This is it then, at least until January. 24 players with Maxwell and Wood unlikely to play much before Christmas, and Straughan-Brown the only youngster not yet out on loan. So potentially an active squad of 23.

Can’t we sign out of contract players before January if the right one became an option.

We can, but McCann has said he is happy with the squad, hence us not using our last loan spot. He wanted a specific lad to join but he went elsewhere, and McCann didn’t just want to fill up the squad.

The squad looks good we will have to wait and see if we can fight for the top of the league. I have concerns over the midfield can we find the three that will take us forward and compete with the three we had at the end of last season. Can we produce chances and goals to take us forward consistently. The defence and GK will have too be stronger as the end of last season. So we can be happy with the business we have done but we won’t know if it’s good enough until we are in the top three consistently this season
