Westbrooke not even on the bench. McCann is taking rotation seriously with Broadbent coming back in on the bench also after missing out completely.

I hope Close and the team put right those little things that cost us on our last visit.

No Westbrooke on the bench is he injured / ill is GM sharing the bench places about. Fullback and central defender on the bench as we are away I assume that’s why SBarra is out.

The strength of this squad is fantastic.
Never had a bench full of quality like this, and there are players like Sbarra and Westbrooke not there either.

Strange one regarding Zain, thought he was good v Gillingham.
I really hope Ben Close steps up now and delivers the performances he was originally signed for.

Radio Sheff for me. Technical problems so it was going to be Radio York commentary. Fair enough I thought. Sadly the sabotage squad I hired have failed (I was in the SAS he said). So alas Mickey Walker is blathering away unintelligibly once more.

March and Muldoon playing as split strikers are nuisances but both are fresh back from injury so won’t last long.

Prior to their return for Harrogate they went 3 games without scoring in all comps.

Gibson has got to go off and I can’t be the only one who thinks Close kills our midfield. Lack of aggression, lack of urgency. No wonder our fans think he’s ace because all he does is play the way he’s facing which is either sideways or backwards. He never wins the ball back, it’s always another player or the opposition lose possession. The sooner McCann realises it the better.

From what I can see, Gibson having a mare, crosses are way too overhit, wasteful and getting caught in possession resulting in their breakaway for the first goal, Sterry has been crap, just let's their man get crosses in whenever he wants without closing him down and making a tackle. Midfield at times is wide open with acres of space and not a Rovers player in sight. We seriously need some pace in this side, Anderson and McGrath were huffing and puffing trying to catch March. He wouldn't have got away from Olowu.
Come on Grant we need a much better second half from you.
Title: Re: Harrogate V TLOD
Post by: ScillyRover on September 12, 2024, 09:02:51 pm
Anderson like a tortoise in attempting to get back for their second and a poor effort at a clearance for their first. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Joe replace him.

This game made for Ironside. You need a target man up front winning free kicks and an aerial presence. Billy as good as he is, isn’t that. Go two up front, get that next goal, Barrow all over.

Molly to the 10
Clifton out wide?

Going 4-4-2 at half time was just complete panic. Ironside needs a quick runner playing off him for the flick ons, not Sharp.
We lost all control of the midfield. Very strange from McCann.
Yeboah should have been on way earlier, Hurst looked lost again spent more time at left back going round in circles.

Did their keeper have a shot to save?

According to BBC Stats we had 21 attempts at goal and 5 on target.   I can’t recall any of them and I don’t think that either keeper made a save

There was a deflected shot that their keeper saved

Sorry to say this but Weaver has yet again done a job on us, & Grant has had no answer, only desperate subs that made us look very disjointed.

Well, the less said about that the better. They were the better team and deserved the win.

It happens.

I'd rather we get shit like this ironed out early in the season so we know what to potentially to do.

Just got home.

Still baffled about that 2nd half. I can only assume Grant wanted Moly away from the hammering he took in the first half. Completely made him ineffective.

Yeboah gave us a lift but we were trying to walk it in through a box with 9 Harrogate players in it at all times.

Harrogate's gameplan worked and we fell right into their trap. That's the biggest disappointment.
