Title: Response to losing
Post by: NickDRFC on September 12, 2024, 10:08:07 pm
Not been great has it? Either the player’s or the manager’s and some of the baffling substitutions.

Tonight was very poor, but was entirely and totally predictable. They always without fail play the same way. Nothing ever changes against them. It’s like f**king Wily E Coyote. The cliff is always there but we always run over.

Can't defend. Can't score. What do you expect?

Have a day off mate. It was a bad night, but to suggest we can’t do either what you are saying is just dumb. We will lose games, but we we will lots more. Blip in the road, nothing more

Wonder what McCann expected to happen with that line up? Very odd set up.

If anyone had seen their line-up/ formation, you would have made some changes before half time. 3 points given away against a very ordinary L2 side.

Tactically outdone, it was obvious from the start.

Difference tonight was they were stronger quicker & more aggressive than us and took their chances when they came.

Don’t think anyone tonight got over 5/10. Fairly comprehensively poor.

The response of GM to the first goal is embarrassing.

How he can criticise the referee for playing an advantage in that situation is quite baffling.

Rovers played two passes and had the ball on the edge of the Harrogate box before losing possession.   What does he expect the referee to do?

I think we could’ve done with Olowu tonight, we got caught short too many times and struggled to match them for pace. Having said that hindsight is a wonderful thing, we get the breaks in the first half and we win at a canter, that’s football.

Cant understand why Olowu is not starting.
He was immense against Everton.

Could be a terrible shout but imo Olowu is better than Anderson and should start so he continues to grow.

We will lose games this season because we set up to go for it. Just need to make the losses a bit rarer and make sure we always bounce back quickly.

No surprises to an overreaction on here.
We’re going to lose lots more times this season, but at the end of the day we’ve got 12 points from 6 games which if we keep up all season will see us promoted

21 shots for us against 8 for them and the nearest we came to scoring was when Mols miscontrolled in the first half.
The way Harrogate defended was worthy of the points, it was a bad day we move on.
Separate note for the ref one of the worst performances I’ve seen in ages got very little right both ways

I thought he was quite reserved. Deep inside he is fuming with the team but probably trying to defelect and not criticise in public.
But also once he analysis the performance he will see that his tactics were off.

Yes. This match gave me crewe playoff vibes. Game could still be going on now and we'd be no nearer scoring

If we win two and loses second in every three game sequence we will probably win the league.
No need to panic just yet.

Goals changes games and we just couldn’t break them down . We need a plan B when team put so many players behind the ball and defend deep . Harrogate had done their homework on us and it looks like we  didn’t !!

What is it about Harrogate? We know exactly what to expect yet come unstuck every time. Also, when was the last time we won any Yorkshire derby?

The concern from me was the speed Mccann ditched the first half tactics. We controlled the game first half and I thought it was poor play from the key men that was costing us.  Had we continued the same way I would have backed us to score.

Too many players just off it and we fell in to the trap set by Harrogate who defensively played well.

It's a long season, a game like this was always coming and the key is how we learn. We have to improve against teams who won't take us on directly and sit in a low block.

I'm still not convinced McCann quite has the team settled as he wants.  But ultimately too many had poor games last night.

First time we haven’t scored in a game since January I believe

I agree that he should start games in lg2.
But he was given a torrid time at everton.

Really??? He got done by Everton’s best player, when our right back was on his arse but apart from that he played well, we got totally over ran in the second half as you’d expect but not really his fault.
