Title: MKD highlights
Post by: ForsolongaRover on September 21, 2024, 06:39:06 pm
These get shorter and shorter! But someone suggested that TSL was at fault for their goal …. which seems a bit harsh!

Great header by Tom but what a superb corner by Sbara, driven in with pace rather than the the usual floated ball in.

Agree the highlights packages are brief but, to be fair they have lots of matches to edit and get out there. We used to allow the Green Un some editorial leeway for getting the paper out so quickly.

Yes, a bit harsh to say TSL was at fault. His reaction time sometimes isn't quite there but he wouldn't have got there with the pace on the ball. Another one where the attacker anticipates the cross and gets in front of our defender. Happened to Anderson last week and now McGrath. Very hard to defend against. I just wish we'd be better delivering and attacking near post crosses. A good flatter corner for our goal though.

The Clifton 2nd yellow was a bit harsh as no malice in it, but ref interpreted that as foot up. I suspect, if that was the first challenge the ref doesn't show the yellow.

I was alluding more to the matter of his shots to saves ratio, I'd wager more than half of shots at him go in, sadly.. Timmy he ain't.....

I was there, probably my last game this season. All the incidents took place at the other end.Now having seen the incidents I think:-

There was nothing in Clifton's second tackle and did not require a yellow card.

Whereas their red card was for a dangerous sliding high tackle with studs showing follow through.

My decision would have been a yellow and not a red.

I feel the ref made his decision to balance the harsh red card decision for Clifton.

A great header by Tom,

It was a bad day at the office but at least we came a way with a point.

Great header from top. Given the context a point away is a good result against what was supposed to be a good team

Aside from the goal, they didn’t lay a glove on us. They were poor or we made them look poor. Even for the period when they had a man advantage they didn’t really threaten.

Those yellow cards for Clifton, both of them were very harsh.
2nd one is a joke.
Harrison’s red card never a red for me. Yellow all day long.
Think the ref knew he had been harsh on Clifton and evened it up.

Thought we were far and away the better team 2nd half even with 10 v 11.
After it became 10 v 10 there was only one team wanting to win.
If it had been a boxing match it would have been stopped.
Very very unlucky not to have won the game.

Don’t understand the criticism of Bailey today as I thought he was excellent. Played deeper and it suits him better imo.
A midfielder short with Clifton sent off he worked his socks off.

Ben Close was our Architect and some of his passing was sublime and Brian ( Selby ) he got a couple of great tackles in also.

McGrath and Anderson were very solid and Molly got loads of crosses in but nothing seemed to drop for us in the pen area.

A very well deserved point and if 10 mins had been added on not 5 as should have been then I think we would have got the winner.
MK were on their knees at the end.
They were happy with a draw at home once it went 10 v 10
Really surprised how little they created against us with a man advantage.
They don’t look a top 3 team to me at present not even a top 7 one.

Referee’s what is going on. We have had shockers all  season so far.
Every season they seem to get worse. Todays ref made some shocking decisions which just about ruined the game and imo cost us an almost certain win against a very ave MK Dons team.

Every match appears to be televised now, so we get umpteen replays from various angles, refs don’t have that on these type of challenges, you’ve also got players cheating and rolling around in apparent agony (thanks premiership).
There were 2 idiots on that pitch today, neither was the ref.
Clifton and Harrison lost their team points today through totally unnecessary challenges.
They need to take responsibility and we as supporters need to stop looking for scapegoats and stop looking at everyone else bar those that actually caused the issue.
Having said that I’m sure Clifton has had a moment to reflect and we get behind him as he’s one of ours.

Sorry that 2nd yellow is not a card offence. End of. I have watched it over and over again and Harrison has made a massive meal of a challenge with very little contact.
He got his just rewards when he got a red that only deserved a yellow imo. What goes round comes round springs to mind.
The ref should give himself time to think before brandishing cards like confetti.
Some refs want to make the game about themselves it would seem. Really poor from him today.

And your second sentence is totally correct.
Clifton offers the opportunity…. Say no more

This is what the referee sees. High(ish) foot from Clifton and not winning the ball. Stills of these things are never great but you can understand why he thinks it’s a yellow.

But if you change the referees position 90deg then Harrison would probably look to be in a similar position.

I have calmed down a bit about it and now realise Clifton shouldn’t have put the referee in that position. As looking at that, yes he’s a decision to make.

Still think he had his cards out too quick, couldn’t wait to give it.

Ref completely ruined that game and was shocking. How we didn’t get something for the challenge on Luke near the end I’ll never know.
He was also content to let their keeper run the clock down, I thought ok he will add it on at the end, gobsmacked when there was only 5 minutes added.
Has the rule about how long a keeper can hold the ball for been expunged?? Can’t remember the last time I saw a keeper penalised for it !

He may have got the big calls wrong but he definitely got the blatant time wasting wrong. Didn’t take action on a single occasion.

Totally agree and then couldn’t wait to blow his whistle for FT robbing us the opportunity for a corner.

I was quite despondent after Harrogate but yesterday it was clear we are a class above MK, one of our fellow favourites for the league.

Has anyone got Ironsides disallowed goal anywhere? It certainly looked like the keeper had just messed up and Ironside tucked the chance away.

From what i saw Ironside jumped in to challenge, as soon as he made contact with the keeper he was going to get pinged. Keepers get those decisions all day long.

To me its just  a shoulder charge/ challenge,  on any other player on any other part of the pitch the refs let that go. Should of been play on and a goal.

I was there yesterday, and from where I was, no way was Clifton's first and second cards deserved and I thought their lad deserved his straight red. Having watched that I was WRONG on all 3. We are all mere mortals eh?

Couple of times their keeper collided with a defender and got a free kick wtf

That is some header by McGrath, the way he attacks the ball shows he means business.
He will score goals for us.

Hopefully. We've been missing a player, particularly centre half, who genuinely attacks the ball and wins clean headers since Rob Jones and Andy Butler, who you always felt were a threat at set pieces.

Anderson goal yesterday was a refreshing change, as he doesn't get near many very often.

Does it show the penalty appeal we had waved away ,looked a banker from the away end
