Title: Naive
Post by: Surrey Rover on September 28, 2024, 05:02:51 pm
The management and players need to wise up. Yes, the referees are poor, very poor for that matter but it isn’t going to change anytime soon, they are all from the same stable.

It’s a case of accepting what the officials are all about in today’s modern game, keep disciplined and become a bit more savvy.

Tonight will be all about the referee but the truth is even with eleven Rovers were poor today.

Newport (A)
Harrogate (A)
Chesterfield (H - first 45 mins)

The times this season when McCann has been out tacticted or we've just been garbage. We tried to blame the ref for Harrogate but it wasn't his fault.

I'm not worried yet as the season is a long hard slog and in GM we trust, but as some have said this bunch need to wise up

Correct. When it was 11v11 Chesterfield were miles better .
One thing is for sure, we know why we finished last season so well, and sadly have not replaced like for like.
The only glimmer we had was the first 2 minutes of the second half when we looked slightly awake.

Let's get real.
Champions no, automatic promotion unlikely, play-offs again maybe.
We are looking like a side that will still be in league two next season as we are certainly not blowing anyone away.

Chesterfield were good in the first half, the ref however didn't allow us any rhythm so we wouldn't know if we'd have performed better otherwise. Hard to analyse much about the Mr James Bell Show.

If you think this is a promotion winning side you are away with the fairies for sure. Just look at the table, it doesn't lie.
You can't be following the same team as me.

Genuine question why do you only post when we have lost ?

Jesus wept man. It’s so early in the season, it’s impossible to predict anything yet.

The table doesn’t lie and we’re in the playoff places. That’s fine by me but it also means bugger all now too. But I’d rather be there than not.

What have you been doing with your Saturday nights for the last 8 months when we’ve been winning every week.
We beat the favourites to win the league only 3 weeks ago.
Your ridiculous negativity ain’t going to wash I’m afraid

They deserved to win today and to be fair Grant tried to change things up at half time with some subs…….but the system didn’t seem to change…..
They knew how we’d play…… when they attacked they had one player over all the time….they didn’t give our players time on the ball to pick out passes and so we were harried into mistakes…..penalty was a penalty…….. Chesterfield were tactically better than us……
I’m not football manager….. we did try today we were just nullified. We lost out discipline because Chesterfield harassed and harried our players all match………
Well done Chesterfield……they have a very competent manager in Paul Cook.
Nice to see Liam Mandeville too.

Outfought, outwitted, outplayed. We were miles behind a newly promoted side today, nowhere near good enough. We are badly missing Westbrook & Maxwell for me. Lacking ideas & intensity today, rely far too much on the wide players to produce something.

Thought the play out the back was poor and slow. Not sure why Sterry went off but he was the best outlet. Formation first half was pathetic, no one near the big lad to win the second balls. Referee was a joke but your lads were daftys and let it get to them. Thought the right side replacements were terrible and did not meet the pace of the game.

Worst part for me was the central midfielders. Didn't offer anything to help defence or attack.

We have played 8 games. 38 to play. We are doomed. Get a grip man.
We were 3rd bottom after 28 games last season and then got 45 points from 18 games.

Yes we were poor today so that means we can’t be champions, can’t get top 3 and can’t finish top 7
Never heard so much claptrap in my life.
Talk about knee jerk.

Campsall, you have to read what the guy said, because that ‘side’ will not be anywhere near the top 3 places. That midfield was woeful and if they play again on Tuesday, we’ll be torn to shreds again. Unbelievable selection by GM.

Why does he insist on having us a man down in midfield from the get-go? We might have half a chance with 3 grafters in there, but, come on - Close and S’Barra? He had it right with Bailey, Craig and Biggins so why go so drastically different?

Then there’s the Gibson question - GM always starts with him, then invariably hooks him at half time! If he’s not good enough - don’t pick him, for Christ’s sake.

This was our first home league defeat since last January.
You would think we hadn’t won since Jan at home.
We were due a bad one at home.
It’s happened, we move on. It’s how we react to that defeat.
The Barrow game on Tues will show whether we have the character to be a promotion team.

Don’t talk daft!
That side beat top of the table only a couple of weeks ago, also port vale away.
That side is definitely good enough for promotion
