Title: Pitch
Post by: Metalmicky on October 01, 2024, 09:03:57 am
Anyone know how the pitch is fairing up after all this rain.... No issues with the game being on I'm guessing?

Have we ever had a game called off at the Keepmoat for water logging?

For me the pitch isn’t the issue it’s getting from my small village in Lincolnshire to Donny with all this rain. The A1 closure Saturday was a f***ng nightmare to and from the game and it hasn’t stopped raining here since Sunday evening and really heavy now. I will set out but may have to turn back if the Trent or Witham overflow. Last time we had this much rain the A1 closed for nearly a week!

We had a game called off 5 or 6? Years ago after heavy persistant rain. I was halfway there from Notts when Aidrian Durham took great delight in announcing it saying how does it happen the KM is a new ground!

It would have been against MKDons if I remember correctly.
I had checked with the bbc website and DROS at 1pm and the game was shown as still on but when I got to the stadium it was off.

I got all the way there from Bradford. Went shopping in the Lakeside as we were very early. Walked  all the way to the ground before finding out it was off. Me and the granddaughter were gutted.

Think this could be off.
It hasn’t stopped raining for over 24 hrs.

Even our excellent pitch and drainage can only cope with so much water.

Think a decision could be made by around 2.00 pm to stop Barrow from travelling assuming they didn’t set off this morning.
Some consideration needed for their fans that are travelling.
The mini bus bringing all of 30 fans.
Someone said they had sold only 3 tickets up to last Friday.
Don’t know if that’s correct  ;)

The weather radar on accuweather suggests that the rain is due to stop within the next hour or so.

Even though the BBC is saying its going to continue for several more hours.

We'll see which is correct but my money is on accuweather.

I'm coming up from Solihull, so I'll be leaving early afternoon. It would be nice to know if an inspection is planned.

Hope you’re right. The BBC on line forecast is usually the least accurate imo.

Its clearing from the east but they have changed it and now say it won't stop until 1pm.

They are suggesting that once it stops it will be dry the rest of the day.

Yeah, roads all sound tonight, the usual 50 min journeys both there and back - happy days! Both the football and the roads better than Saturday!  :santa:
