Not only is Grant clearly striving to strengthen the club’s future by the development and signing of young players , McGrath , Staughan -Brown , Williams , Flint and others but I read from Free Press news of a new training centre to be built .
-
I'm sure Grant and especially the physio team will have had some input but imagine it will be TB and GB driving this. And massive credit to them for doing so, as well.
-
Grant's interview about Williams was really insightful. He clearly sees the future is growing our own and he's smart and tying down the better scholars to long term contracts - about time tbh.
The interview with Williams was also very interesting - especially that at scholar level they're being coached with the same structures and style as the first team.
Worth watching Green's interview too; feels like we have a top to bottom coaching philosophy which is focussed on progression to the first team.
McCann is a gift - we need to do everything to keep him.

We only have anything till McCann goes. Then it’s a free for all again.
-
A 5+ year deal for McCann surely has to be talked about? If we get promotion this year we’ll be lucky to hold onto McCann never mind our best players.

He basically has a never ending contract if both parties remain happy (rolling contract).
I'm sure it would be reviewed yearly upon results/performances/promotions.
-
I'm sure he'll get a pay rise if we're promoted immediately and a decent bonus too. Do we still ensure we pay the manager more than any of our players?

We don’t have a structure sorted and all our eggs are in a McCann shaped basket, that’s true. You hope though they have learned that appointing a proper and experienced manager is the best means of cutting down failure, in absence of a structure and system.
-
One of the many things he has got is experience at other clubs and the investments made into infrastructure and recruitment (assets) and it appears it's very persuasive.
Let's not kid ourselves, it's still a results based business, and if he doesn't produce the goods, how long will it be before fans turn? Are we really sure we'd want to pay multiple years compensation?
-
It was very noticeable that when results were bad last season the fans didn’t turn on McCann.

We didn’t half make some poor decisions over that 2020 to 2023 period. Not on scale of 97/98 but wow someone was taking the piss with managerial appointments and player recruitment. The first window that Wellens had was absolutely legendary.

The massive whittling down of the coaching staff and stagnation of the facilities was a huge issue as well. You could feel it around the ground, and not just because the scoreboard was broken for ages.
