Title: Shirt advertising.
Post by: bellevuebulgar on October 26, 2024, 12:13:49 pm
Lighthearted question folks.

Why do I have to pay the shirt sponsors to advertise their brand/product?

If they want me to walk around advertising for them, shouldn’t they be paying me?

It’s for that very reason I always wear my shirt inside out.

We pay for carrier bags when we buy shopping too.

They pay the club to wear the logo.

You buy the shirt because you want to support the team.

I only buy training kit because I a) don’t like wearing the big logos and b) don’t like wearing football kit as an adult, unless I’m playing.

You don't pay the shirt sponsors though.
What a bizarre post, I get you put light hearted.

I'm old enough to remember when they first allowed shirt sponsorship.

Those first replica shirts, which were quite a new thing, were available with or without the sponsors logo.

Most wanted the shirt to look exactly like the players kit but I didn't think an unsponsored version was a bad idea.

Fans pay for a shirt to show their loyalty to the team. Not to advertise.
The lower down the pyramid you go the less relevance the sponsor has to most people, especially opposition fans.
