Anyone see the disallowed goal as the ref figured it went under the side netting https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17cfWWAikz/?mibextid=WC7FNe
Didn’t we have something similar a few years ago??
-
Yes, was it Brentford away?
-
McCammon scored at Brentford in the FA Cup. It went through the net and came out. Their player grabbed it and took a quick goal kick and it wasn’t questioned.
We all couldn’t believe McCammon had missed from where we were.
Apparently after the final whistle Mark went and checked the net and one bit wasn’t pegged down. Luckily Lewis Guy had already scored and we won 1-0.

I hadn’t seen that dude.
Poor decision by the officials.

There was one in the Conference at Belle Vue, the away team, Telford I think scored a goal that hit the back stanchion in the top corner, ref waved play on thinking it had hit the post
-
What a shocking decision. And the linesman wasn't much help.
-
Also happened to us away at Watford. Might have been James Hayter. It was difficult to tell from the opposite end but he looked convinced it was in. Might have been the same game when he scored a brilliant header from the edge of the box at our end.

Yes notable as I was at Corner Flag on Main Stand side at the Kop end
The furthest anyone could be , and I could see it was clearly a goal
Most of their Team ran towards Main Stand / Town End Corner Flag. In Main Stand loads of Rovers fans were making hand gestures to away fans and I thought " Why ... They've just scored"
Looking up Rovers had played on and were attacking down right wing or Pop Side. A cross came in and was it Tristram who failed by a Stud length to stick it in
Then for me the strangest noise went round the Ground as people discussed what they had seen

Also Rochdale away in 68/9 Season . Ball in and out for Rovers and play waved on
-
It probably isn’t so rare Wolfie.
I had it happen to myself years ago after scoring from a very tight angle and it was disallowed.
I also played in a match when one of our players hit a shot which went in but hit the metal stanchon inside the goal and came back out and the ref said it had hit the bar.
Probably others on here will have had similar experiences.

Robertson header hit the net support and flew back out
-
We were right behind the goal and couldn’t believe the ref not giving it. Mind you those nets must have been the smallest ever.
They only seemed a couple of feet deep at the most at the top.
I think that one of their fans said that it wasn’t the first time that it had happened there.

Yes indeed Idler, I remember it well, and I also think the nets were quite taut as well. Their fans said it happened often enough that their players knew well how to play on as if nothing had happened

Clive Allen had a famous one at QPR(?) which hit the back stanchion and came out.
Anyone else remember Steve Lister hitting a rocket shot at the town end which ended up with the ball stuck in the loop of the P shaped stancion?

Seem to think Trevor Brooking did that for England away at Hungary god knows how many years ago.

I remember this well - we were garbage that day, and still failed to score even after their entire team had run off celebrating, giving us a clear run at goal.
-
I put in my Post above that " most of their Team" ran to celebrate .
Still think the Keeper and 3 or 4 must have realized the game was continuing. Just wish we had scored though , that would have been interesting
All the group of Rovers fans were already waving hand gestures at away Fans on Kop so they must have seen Ref waving play on
How the hell could I tell it was in and out from Kop end and Ref not see it went in from 30 yards away ?

A load of us were watching that on the tele in the Coop Club on York Road. As soon as the ball wedged in the loop I knew it was a goal and jumped up, cheering like a madman.
Everyone looked at me gone out until Brooking punched the air; then they realised it was a goal and joined me in the celebrations.

Anyway, back to the Peterborough ‘goal’.
Have I got this wrong?
It’s clearly headed wide by the Newport defender then hits the station and somehow enters into the net from behind.
Nowhere near a goal or have I completely gone around the twist, a little like the ball.
Watched it about 10 times.
-
I see it totally different and the still shot at the end backs up my thoughts.
The ball goes into the net either off the inside of the post or directly without touching the post.
It should be a goal.

Dead on Wolfie. The net was so tight that the ball came straight back out.
I was at the back of the goal it was a definite goal. I think it finished 0-0.

Yes it ended 0-0. I think that it was Easter Monday.

Have you watched the Facebook clip at the start of this thread RIS?
It's clearly a goal. The ball goes in the net off the inside of the post from the defender's header.
-
My take on it too Pancho
-
I hadn't looked either and good god the Ref and Lino need standing down
Wonder if the Newport player is backing up the Refs view by insisting the ball went under the net
If so he's a knowing cheat
It's as clear as it could be. Near post defender heads onto near post and ball goes on
Why did the Ref not give the net a pull if he thought it went under it. He might just might have found it pegged down
