It’s good news for the Region, Coppard dropped a massive clanger when he refused to help Peel out, once he realised he was suddenly a lower league player compared to Brabim, Burnham and Co he changed his tune!

Tbf I believe Peel refused to disclose some required accounts , However we are best rid of Peel they have quite a record of ex MOD land Dockyards etc being taken on and suddenly becoming unviable when it suits, thats not to say the councils hoped it would all go away and let Peel build the houses and warehouses they wanted

Will have closed over 4 years by the time it reopens?

Trouble is most people think it'll be fully operational and open in a week.

If you listen to the it's not terminal podcast the guy that used to run the cargo side said that once the necessary infrastructure was in place IE fire, air traffic the cargo side could open and receive a flight in 24 hours

Passenger flight will take longer as they have to be marketed and more things need sorting within the airport hence the date of 2026 for passenger flights an airline may take a punt on late 2025 but I think it would be unlikely

Once it's hopefully finalized, Cargo/Freight will start next year along with 2Excel bringing back it's Oil Response and Rescue Fleet, but yeah passenger flights won't be until 2026 which I have no problem with, just want to see it back operational.

Hope the name is also kept as DSA.

DSA reopening can’t come soon enough for me, landed at EMA at 12:30pm today and had the nightmare drive on the M1 with 50mph speed restrictions all the way

Heathrow for me a few weeks ago, LBA next month. Both naff drives and annoying. Can't wait for Donny to be reopened.

I do that 50mph section of the M1 quite often and find it quite relaxing not having to watch out for the speed merchants bullying cars out of the way.
It doesn’t really add much time to the journey.

I use Leeds/Bradford every 6 to 7 weeks, train to Leeds, walk outside turn right to the bus stop outside the O’Neils pub, bus to the airport at least 2 an hour, usually costs about £10 including train fare if you book in advance

To save me looking how about scheduled late arrivals Draytonian 111 ?

Do you choose flights so you can get back easily as long as it's on time ?

Do you stay in Hotel if return Flight is scheduled to be late or if you get delayed

I hadn't realized it was so easy to get there and I usually drive , stay on Hotel if it's an early flight and of course Park at Sentinel for the stay

Even for 7 nights and 2 of us I reckon your way would be cheaper

For 21 nights a no brainer

I only fly to Belfast, but the bus ( which is called the Flying Tiger ) runs from roughly 5 a.m. to 12.30 a.m. Which covers the Leeds flights both ways, like most airports there’s a curfew at Leeds

I'm really intrigued as to how they are going to get around radar approach being previously provided by Liverpool.
Radar is on site in Donny but a feed is sent to lvp where their approach controllers literally change screens between Liverpool radar and Doncaster radar. Made sense cost wise but again as always with peel kept the resources, skills and personal at Liverpool.
Tower approach was a separate license and don't believe anyone in Donny was qualified or in check for radar approach.
The old tower was chock full as well so no space without expansion for radar approach positions
They surly can't contract out to Peel??!
I'm also sure Peel will have kept control of all utilities to the site! (Peel utilities) Separate company from the airport and funnily enough always in profit!!!
Exciting and interesting times!

This is utterly hilarious,  has Ed Milibrain heard of this impending catastrophy?
Absolutely no chance,  Labour are wanting less air flights.
More chance of the site becoming half refugee camp and half solar farm given the enormous subsidies available via everyone's electricity bill
Of course the whole exercise is a diversion away from the farce of South Yorkshire Labour allowing the closure and doing nothing to prevent it,  try and pretend you're doing something,  too late.
Won't happen
Have you opened the Xmas sherry early?
