As the away team do we get any dosh from the TV people?
BobG
-
£60,000 shared.
-
As well as the above-mentioned FA prize money, the cash that comes clubs’ way if their Cup fixtures are selected for live broadcast can also prove lucrative.
Last season, a first-round tie picked for TV earned each respective club an extra £50,000. A first-round replay that was broadcast came with a £32,500 purse, while a live second-round showing had £60,000 worth of TV money attached.
Anything from the third round onwards attracts revenue of £100,000 and above.
-
Is that £60K each? I think it is from your description but it's not explicit.
Cheers!

The FACup prize money for round two is £75k for winners and £25k for losers.
Any TV money is extra to that.
-
60 k to each team is my understanding
-
Thank you chaps!
That adds up to
£45K for victory in R1
£75K for victory in R2 IF we can beat Kettering
£60K for R2 TV appearance
So, if we play properly, £180K. £125K if we lose to Kettering.
Plus a few quid share of gate money of course.
That right? Or is it £30K less all round as Geronimo suggested?
-
Some very contradictory accounts on here so I’m none the wiser.
Anyway, it’s extra dosh of some kind so that’s good news.
Also good news for most Rovers fans who can’t get a ticket.
-
In the FA Cup Second Round proper we get either £75,000 prize money if we win or £20,000 prize money if we lose.
-
Yes.We got that CB. The question about which there is doubt is the size and sharing of tv money

Why wouldn’t it be shared? There’s no doubt in my mind on that one.
-
It's £60k per each club in all the broadcast matches:

Bob was asking whether each club gets £60k or whether the two clubs get half of £60k.

Muchas gracias Wilts!

So, assuming Rovers do actually beat Kettering the club would be £180k better off. I am assuming gate revenues would cover expenses but not that much more. Assuming the company makes a sufficient trading loss - about which I have no idea - there would be no need to make allowance for Corporation tax. But if profit did arise, and it outweighed previous years losses, then up to 25% might need to be set aside.
So, worst case, what sort of player could we expect to invest in? If £100K pa is an average annual wage, once NI and bonuses are taken into account, winning the first two rounds of the Cup, and being televised along the way, could give us one average wage player for one year.
It ain't much reward is it?

An FA cup run to the 2nd or 3rd round is never going to be transformative for a football league club, it’s a deeper run that would have more impact given the volume of rounds, more opportunity of being televised and the share of a significant gate. Where I do think it’s useful is to cover areas that have been deprioritised to allow focus on the playing budget, such as the PA system/scoreboard/general ground maintenance.
-
There is usually a zero based approach in annual budgeting in that we don’t assume anything past the bare minimum eg First Round proper. Anything beyond that is a bonus. Given this addition is a one-off payment, it is fairly useless in budgeting for recurring costs like salaries. So you can only sensibly use this for capital projects or to cover an in-year shortfall or overspend that will then be rectified the following season in that budget. It’s clearly not unhelpful but unless it goes on a loan player in January it is not going to be any good for playing squad this season.
-
Talking of getting players in - in DFP today, there’s an article about us doing a work experience swap with Man Utd. Straughan-Brown & Williams going to Utd and we have a winger and a midfield player from their U21’s. The 2 ManU lads played in our behind-closed-doors friendly, on Tuesday (which we won 3-0).
According to GM, they both played well.

No Bob.
Refer to my post on the first OP on the subject ‘Rovers on tv’.

You forgot to mention Bob that should we beat Kettering there would then be gate money and prize money from a third round tie. This could potentially be massive if we draw a big club and could again feature as a live tv game as well.

Any news on Fleetwood?
-
No Idler. I didn't forget. I attempted to analyse the benefit from winning the first two rounds of the Cup. It's bloody obvious that entering the third, fourth or more rounds will change the numbers.

We can confirm that our trip to Fleetwood Town has been pushed back to Wednesday, December 4 with a 7.45pm kick-off

I wasn’t having a dig Bob. I just thought that as you say, your figures will increase if we progress and had I written your post I would have put an extra sentence in covering that point.

Fair enough!
Cheers

Grant can add the Everton game money to his January budget too .
-
Crikey! If we lose in the 3rd round across all cup competitions we must be somewhere between £380K and £500K to the good.

It’s not really adding to the pot is it, it’s just limiting Terrys losses!

Will it be cost effective to open the Belle Vue bar ?
