Title: Someone has to
Post by: coventryrover on November 08, 2024, 07:57:21 pm
Watching Barnsley vs Rotherham.

I don't mind Barnsley so want them to beat the other lot.   Is it us and Barnsley against blades/iwls/millars?

Getting into Rovers in 74/75, I’ve always felt Barnsley were my biggest rivals, some great games and crowds around then, until Barnsley found great form under Clarke and went up.
Rotherham always seemed in another league so never I really got the hump with them.
Lived out Crowle way in the very early 80’s so Scunny were a nuisance even with Botham getting a game or two.
Simply can’t be done with Wednesday, knew a fair few people who ditched Rovers to support that lot, even though they gave us the likes of Nimmo and Dowd to help us get a lovely promotion in 81, talking which, do NOT like Leeds, however thank you for Billy Bremner and his 81 team.
Sheff U? No issue at all, think they’ve been good to us, Whiteman, Sharp etc.

Both teams consistent …… at losing possession.
Serious lack of quality but Barnsley dominating proceedings so far.
No wonder Matty Craig can’t get into the team.

Their fans are not happy on Twitter.
Well and truly turning on Evan’s.

Rotherham are very poor, might have some money on them to be  relegated

He is, but serving the first of his three match touchline ban tonight

Funny I did the opposite when Evans was signing every man and his dog I had a bet on being top 3, glad to see the old reverse phycology has worked a treat

God how bad were Rotherham, key injuries admittedly, but that was bad.

Can he get a view of the game from inside the burger van?

It's been quite a hard slog so far this season watching Clarke trying to find a system that suited us and getting the right players in the positions to make it work .

What happens generally at Oakwell is that players are signed by the recruitment team and it's up to the HC to make it work .

I had my doubts about Clarke's ability to do that early doors , some baffling substitutions say the least , we looked way off in some games , all over the shop .

Last night was really the first time when I thought we looked good enough to grab a play off spot , I wouldn't go as far as to say it's the finished article but I reckon we will be there or there abouts if we can maintain that level of performance .

As for Rotherham , they were dreadful , they played with hardly any confidence , were very timid and negative , too many players with the confidence shot not willing to pass the ball to any great affect .

I do believe we wanted it more , ran and tackled harder which in a derby game from the Millers point of view is unforgivable really .
