The club (or rather Doncaster Rovers Limited) has submitted a return to Companies House notifying that as of 1st November Gavin Baldwin holds 25-50% of shares in the company. I always thought that for years the shares in Club Doncaster had been split roughly a third each between TB, GB & David Blunt with a few minority shareholders (the VSC, some legacy shareholders like Mike Collett) so he already held a c.30% shareholding, but perhaps that's not the case and since Blunt's departure he's received more that pushes his shareholding to this level. Although I'd have expected any change like that to have been reflected in Club Doncaster (given that entity essentially owns Doncaster Rovers Limited), so feels a bit unusual that the notice is for Doncaster Rovers Limited.
Can anyone shed any light on what (if anything) it means?

I have no real idea but I guess it’s succession planning, unfortunately Terry won’t be around forever & Gavin being relatively young has acquired more of the cake with the aim of him becoming chairman. He’ll be handed the power to bring in the next money man to takeover from Terry when the inevitable happens. I sincerely hope this doesn’t come to pass for a long time because ever since Terry took the reigns entirely as Blunt departed the club and the fan base are currently as one and long may it continue.
-
Terry looked pretty well yesterday as part of the commemoration at the start of the game.
-
Had there been any whispers that Terry might have had his last dance so to speak? He preparing to sell if we get promoted? Rumours on who would be the money man? Purely a discussion here nothing sinister.
-
There’s absolutely nothing to worry about here.
As I’ve said before there is a plan, but not something I should be detailing, that’s between Terry and Gavin.
The current news is nothing major, just a realignment as a reaction to DB stepping down and his shares being acquired.

Glad there's a plan.
I was thinking about this recently.
Could Terry's recent reignited enthusiasm for the club be due to him wanting us in as higher a division as possible, in order to get a better price for the club from any possible buyers?
With a view for him to look after his family, when he's gone, because they don't want anything to do with the club.
The reason I ask is that I can't see how the club could operate at the level it does without Terry or another wealthy investor or investors.

He gave his answer at the Meet the Owners and was very candid about it. It was very encouraging to hear his enthusiasm so the best thing we can do is wish him continued good health and carry on showing our enthusiasm.

Whether the club were sold for a lot or a little will make absolutely no difference. What will matter is the depth of the pockets of a new owner and his or her willingness to put a hand into them.

Yes of course, hopefully he's around for many more years.
I didn't manage to go to the last MTO evening, so I missed the answer, perhaps you could enlighten me ?

Thanks .
But I did watch that at the time, and there's no answer to my questions there unfortunately.

I have. But none of them as stupid as yours. Especially when finding the answer for yourself would take 90 seconds. Like I said, spoon fed

Well, I heard what he said about selling the club when the time comes and what values any perspective buyers would need.
If you're asking if he's intending to use the club sale as an inheritance for his family then I'm pretty confident that would be a no.
-
Lol. He's got no pressing need to has he DBR...?
BobG
-
One thing is for sure. The club is a much more saleable entity if it is in ascendancy rather than in the doldrums.
-
Get some money spent, Wetzel.
-
I seriously doubt that any money that TB raised from the sale of DRFC would have much effect on the lifestyle and wellbeing of his family after he has gone.

But you really are a salty old t**t aren't you, hiding behind your keyboard.

Possibly not, but he surely would want the best price possible, in order to help create generational wealth for his family.

That has probably already been done.
-
Ah. So exactly who might you be then Soprano? Plenty, plenty of folk in here know me, my record, my reputation. You want to know about me, just ask. Plenty know where I live even. It's South Gloucestershire if you're interested. Mind you, I'm in the Colombian Minca Sierra Nevada Santa Marta mountains right now.
What about you then? In all these months since you inflicted yourself on us you've said nothing beyond headlines, platitudes and prejudices. Are you actually capable of constructing a coherent argument? You've given zero evidence of it.

Hounds already said it once, what you are suggesting won't be his motivation for his rejuvenated interest and involvement.
I see it as TB is more likely motivated by leaving a lasting legacy, keen that the club should continue as a hub of the community for all, young and old. He supports the ideal of keeping ticket prices affordable and accessible for as many as possible, the community involvement with the foundation, the educational aspect of what Club Doncaster can do to support it's citizens. There are hundreds of us out there who have benefitted from the Fit Rovers programme, which reaches further than just Rovers fans in promoting physical fitness and mental wellbeing. What we see on a matchday us just the tip of the iceberg. Of course, he wants our clubs to be as successful as they can be on the pitch. He's found a bit more of his competitive spirit. You can tell he's a bit irked by his former business competitor, the Weavers, getting the better of us.
I'm convinced, if another 'community champion' comes along to take the club forward for the next generations, to carry on running the club on similar lines, rather than personal gain, he'll more likely gift his shares. GB's interest is a controlling interest rather than a financial one, with the aim of steering the club through any potential takeover, by trying to protect the clubs values in line with TBs wishes. Of course, there are no guarantees in life and what lies ahead for us beyond TB will be uncertain .
Whatever you perceive about our ownership from JR, to DW & TB, none of them were in it for personal financial gain.

We are also unique in that the holding has the ownership of three of the four major sports clubs in the city , all well managed and all with the ambition to grow football and rugby throughout the community for all ages and as said above with many other community activities . The merger of Rovers and Belles female teams over the past few years has provided a platform of top-class coaching for girls through all age groups.Dons have the ambition of Super League and have further strengthened their Championship squad this week with some exciting, experienced players including a couple of well-known Oceania players. This Club Doncaster model is a fitting legacy for Terry Bramall and I feel sure that the community ethic on which it has been founded is understood and will be adhered to under Gavin Baldwin’s direction through to the next generation of ownership. It is then, more than just the future of Donny Rovers. Terry has built a Community Sports Holding that is unique in the region.

DBR & Graingrover, please take a bow.
Couldn’t have put it better. A superb reading of the situation.

We must think ourselves extremely lucky.
Keep your eye on the consortium (and what a mix they are) about to take over Tranmere, they have one thing on their mind begins with L, 4 letters.
