Premier ref has been suspended over video in which he calls Klopp a c#nt and Liverpool sh!t following the 7-2 defeat at Villa
Friend: What did you think of the Liverpool game earlier, when you were fourth official?
Coote: Liverpool were s***. Like, really s***.
Friend (interrupting): What do you think of Jurgen Klopp?
Coote: C***. Absolute c***.
Friend: Why would you say that Jurgen Klopp was a c***?
Coote: Umm. Aside from having a right pop at me when I reffed them against Burnley in lockdown, then he accused me of lying then just had a right f***ing pop at me, I’ve got no interest in speaking to someone who’s f***ing arrogant. I do my best not to speak to him.
This all assuming the video is not fake.
His friend does say that video must go no where, we don't want to ruin his career
Coote has been involved in a series of controversial decisions against Liverpool since, including failing to recommend a red card for Jordan Pickford after he inflicted an ACL injury on Virgil van Dijk in October 2020.
He was also VAR for the Martin Odegaard handball in last season’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal – with PGMOL chief Howard Webb later admitting the officials “did not reach the right outcome.”

How can you be that thick, to say something like that while someone is recording you and think that it’s not going to go viral! He ought to be banned for showing he is capable of such an error of judgement.
-
Stinks of a stitch up by his "friend", but if he knew he was being recorded, then wow....
-
Never forget his dreadful performance on New Years Day 2013. Rovers 2-0 up and heading for victory until he awarded the Blades a soft penalty. He then sent Billy Paynter off and to add insult to injury Dave Kitson equalised in the final moments of the game.

If they sack him from the Premiership list or the Referees list totally, he will become a first class cricket umpire, he already umpires in the Nottinghamshire Premiership and is being fast tracked through the leagues.
He only umpires about half a dozen matches a season at moment and unlike every other umpire in local cricket his contact details aren’t published.

Christ, that bought back some bad memories, if you ever want to see an example of where a cub like ours will always get less then their fair share of the officials decisions then that was it.
Happens every time we play a "big club"

Ill-advised but can’t say I disagree with any of his comments about Klopp!

Another arrogant pr*ck of a referee who thinks he's a big deal. Klopp can be arrogant, he's one the best managers in the world, the fella's a sad jumped up little man whose little bit of power has gone to his head. He'll end up in our league to join the rest of the clowns at this level.

Me too, I’m angry now just thinking about it, I totally lost my shit that day, never been so angry at a football match, a bit embarrassing to be honest but luckily my mate wasn’t recording me.
-
Knowing the FA they’ll probably give him a promotion

If his comments had been about a Championship,League 1 or League 2 manager hardly anything would of been said
-
What a stupid Coote
-
Im sure they mentioned Joe Ironside in the commentary, must have only been a young en back then!

Was it surpassed with MR James Bell this season at home to Chesterfield? That and the one in the 3-4 Portsmouth relegation game were the worst officiating in my lifetime!
-
Mike Russell’s 3-4 against Portsmouth has to be the worst ever.
All four goals were suspect one way or another. If he were just incompetent then it was certainly only one way.

I had to play it back and listen again it was Joe he won the penalty, must have been really young

Yes, I picked up on that but had no recollection of him playing against us that day.
-
As long as he doesn't end up in the EFL then I don't care what happens to him.

New video emerged of Coote snorting white powder

How quick are we to forget that these people are humans doing a job!
He doesn't like Liverpool or Klopp is a c*nt, so what?!
All of a sudden ppl playing repeats of descisions he didn't give to Liverpool.....BUT what about the ones he did give (see sky sports report).
Professionalism is thinking someone is a c*nt and still doing your job, there is thousands of ppl who do that every day in every line of work. And the same who call ppl behind their backs.
So what.
Clearly talking infront of someone he trusted who has screwed him over.
The only cretin in this story for me is the camera man.

I might agree with you Ryaldinhio, but there is always the point that when you take a publicly high profile job, you really should know the UK penchant to emphasise clay feet when they become apparent. Coote was a fool to allow himself to be put in this position. And if he's a fool, is he someone worthy of trust?
Cheers!

BG
I don't disagree with your opinion that he was a fool
But many a man has lost a job, a friend, a misus, a family.....over being a fool......usuall being a bloke among friends doing or saying summat he shouldn't?
Not saying I do or don't condone it.
I just don't get the fuss.
It's life and he is human
-
True. I buy that. We've all done stunningly stupid things in our time. It is just life. I still suspect though that public figures should know the score and should therefore be much more self aware. Of course entrapment is another kettle of fish altogether though.

Yes he should be more aware given his public stature. Imagine living a life where you couldn't trust even your closest mates......glad I ain't famous
-
Life was so much simpler before camera phones! Glad I'm past it already and not a young un going out nowadays.
-
The smart thing for a professional ref to do, is to save those comments until he/she has retired from officiating. Then it doesn’t matter two f**ks if the comments get recorded and plastered on social media or not.
-
When you are in a position of trust and impartiality you should always maintain that stance. As soon as you express a liking for a person or team or a passionate dislike you leave yourself open to scrutiny and criticism of every contentious decision for or against that team or individual. Honest mistakes are jumped on as deliberate.
It is hard to believe he could come out with comments like this in public. One to one with a mate you trust that you know isn’t being taped or filmed can always be denied but he is in full public view there now.
-
I'm glad I'm not famous too Ryaldinhio. I'd have been sunk without trace years ago!

Got no time for Liverpool, it's never their fault and all that.

It makes you wonder how this appaling human being was allowed to ascend through the refereeing ranks and calls the whole selection process into question. Do they not apply any diligence checks ? How can he be considered a fit and proper person to referee at any level ?
I would suggest that the vast majority of active football referees in UK are decent and honest people just doing what they do out of love for the game. People like Coote destroy that notion, this in turn drives the foul abuse that refs are subjected to at all levels and causes many to leave and pursue other less stressful pastimes and occupations.

It's very easy to criticise the vetting process in hindsight. In reality, it's likely that any substance misuse issues were not present or as prominent when Coote was emerging as a referee.

Good lord he's just someone who's made a mistake and probably needs an arm around him or sympathy rather than being cast as the devil. Guaranteed every referee hates a club or person at a club. Personal bias. They just don't express it out loud while doing gear
