Post by: SydneyRover on November 17, 2024, 02:33:10 am
Had our first sighting and photo of a tui yesterday, a beautiful warm sunny day in Invercargill.

Lol! I thought you'd had your first sighting of a rather strangely named travel company...

Not my thing, dickie birds, but I hope you enjoyed the occasion!

Of course we are Bob, like you we are fortunate in being able to travel, the sun is now down over the lake and mountain and the stars are out (despite the light polution)

Sitting out on the balcony looking out on the universe taking it all in ............

It's the Kea's you want to watch out for, they're crackers.

I love how your link brings up the dubious German travel company.

Quality linking.

Actually, having just clicked it again, it brings up a YouTube video by a bloke called Tony Palmer.

A video of the bird BTW!

We watched Griff Rhys Jones's encounter with some a while back, I think it was him. We might be in luck.

Haven't seen a Kea yet but we saw a few NZ Bellbirds today in Franz Joseph.

Unfortunately we're going to miss out on Kea (me and my non-gender specific partner tehe) but another great day in paradise.

Stokesy is going ok but why do it hte hard way? I rang him and said ''it's going to be a hot day here today if you win the toss, bat, cos tomorrow it's going to be cool, cloudy and lots of wickets'' Oh well I guess it is his home turf.

Had a great couple of days at Lake Tekapo which is fed from snow and glacial melt. Quite a stunning view as the lake (83sq klm) with dissolved limestone breaks downs to form crystals that then reflects sunlight as a brilliant turqoise, surrounded by mountains capped with the remains of the winter's snow.
