Title: Preview of games played on December 14th involving the top 7 teams in L2

Here are the top 7 game in brief:

Wallsall v Barrow

Bromley v Port Vale

AFC Wimbledon v Rovers

Grimsby v Crewe

MK Dons v Gillingham

All information about each game come from the BBC Sports website.

In detail:

Wallsall V Barrow: On the surface this looks like a home win. However, Wallsall have failed to beat Barrow in their past 8 meetings. Barrow are on a poor run, whilst Wallsall are on a good run. For Rovers a draw would be a good result, but realistically this has to be a home win.

Bromley v Port Vale: On the surface this looks like an away win. However, Port Vale have only won one of their 17 away games. Bromley are an improving team, they are looking to win their 3rd successive victory. For Rovers a Bromley win wood be a good result, but realistically this has to be a draw.

Grimsby v Crewe: 5th v 4th. Crewe do not have a good record against Grimsby. Grimsby have won their last four FL encounters and Crewe have lost 4 out of 5 away games against Grimsby. For Rovers a draw would be a good result, but realistically this has to be a home win.

MK Dons v Gillingham: 7th v 10th.  Previous meeting between these sides are Won 9 each, 3 draws. Looks like it will be a close game. Gillingham have only won 3 of their last 10 games against MK Dons, and the MK Dons are unbeaten in their last six home games  against Gillingham. MK Dons have won 3 of their last 5 games, but the other 2 were defeats. For Rovers a draw would be a good result, but realistically this has to be a home win.

Least but not least. AFC Wimbledon v Rovers: 6th v 3rd. I'm going to be as objective as possible. Both teams seem to have a better away record than their home record. Rovers have failed to win any of their last  7 away games against AFC Wimbledon.  The stats for previous meeting is won 5 for each team, and 5 draws, suggesting a tight game. The only ray of hope for Rovers is that we have beaten AFC Wimbledon in the previous 2 out  of 3  encounters. Obviously, an away win would be a great result, but realistically this has to be a draw.

What are your thoughts about these games?

Wimbledon have had to sign 2 out of contract players on short term deals as their entire first choice midfield is out injured, you would hope that will give us the advantage

Well, not a top seven team but good for us that Notts County were beaten today at Salford.

By end of season if we are not in the top three, it will be our own fault and nobody else’s.
