Although I understand the need to stop clubs spending money and getting into trouble,  it also keeps the glass ceiling firmly in place for lower league clubs.

Transfer budgets are not the problem it’s higher wages that players leave for not transfer fees . Most players in L1-L2 are free transfers .

So if we sell a player  for 1 million we can only spend half that on a replacement.

Another change to the rules means that only 60%, in League One, and 50%, in League Two, of extra football income - such as prize money, cup earnings or transfer fees received - will be able to spent on player-related expenditure
