Title: Could Salford nick 2nd place ?
Post by: Colemans Left Hook on December 28, 2024, 07:45:10 pm
I have said very little about this league this year

money bags Port vaLe and Carlisle    (said they were going to spend 12 million on the ground - never mentioned anything on players though !!) were obviously going to be near the top

to think Colchester are unbeaten in 10  -  their defence is "super scrooge"

Bromley ( some Yank just bought into the club) are a mere 6 points behind us

as for Salford

The money from the Man City game will work wonders

they have some very good players

I bet Salford won't pocket much more than we got v Everton. £20 to get in however very likely the ground will be half empty

Actually until Rovers scored the last minute winner Salford who I backed at a few hundreds to one to win the league not that long ago were 2nd in the League.

The Notts County Walsall match was an absolute Jekyll & Hide match - county outclassed Walsall in the first half as Josh Martin (X-Rover) starred in the first half twice he put slide rule passes to Jatta  as Walsall tried to play offside

- the first resulted in the most amazing back heal clearance you will ever see on the goal line before  Jatta finally made it 1-0  with a similar run. County had 73% of the ball - yes we know Walsall let the opposition have the ball as a rule - but they had no choice

Walsall hadn't made the smartest of team selections benching Jamille Matt and starting a 38 year old pensioner up front.

Their manager obviously read the riot act and made substitutions at half time (x- Rovers loanee Off as well as the old man ) and outclassed County in the second half.

Salford beat Notts County easily 3-0 the other week  and and have their eyes on equalising our ten wins in a row

Can but dream that they will catch Walsall or can they ?

if they can get to 9 wins in a row -what better way of making it 10 than by beating Walsall

Note  :: -- County have 13 home matches to play and only 10 away which is not good for us

well they jumped  that hurdle to make it 6 wins in a row without conceding a goal

their  next matches are
Fleetwood Home
Cheltenham Away and
Newport Home

so it really does now seem possible to get 10/10

even Adelukan  chipped in today - ironic that he has already done the 10/10

Salford are even shorter than Rovers at 14/1 with "Blue-sky bet"  for the title

Since drawing with us 1-1 at our place

they have won 8 out of 9 and conceded just one goal in 9 games when they lost 1-0. to Gillingham away

Fortunately I caught them very early on this run as I said at "hundreds to one" when they murdered Notts County 3-0.

this is frightening form

Six clean sheets in a row. Rovers could only dream of that from our lot.

All runs come to an end.

And unfortunately we seem to make it a habit of ending other clubs losing streaks.

they were going really well until that Man City match when amazingly they folded like a pack of cards --  I even had dreams of them Catching Walsall for the title especially as I had backed them at hundreds to one nearly 500/1 from memory

and the next three matches looked very winnable to make 9 wins   - yes they were joke when we beat them early season-

Up til this thread I had deliberately said very little about the title but have made up for it since the turn of the year. Walsall 14/1 for the play offs (stupid boy): Bradford alarm bells ringing 25/1-  Port Vale when out with the washing 50/1

It looks as though Notts County did that job.
