Too many players waiting for things to happen, instead of making it happen.
A manager who has no clue what his best team is.
No physicality whatsoever, a powder puff midfield lacking any quality.
Kyle hurst our best player on the bench again.
Molyneux completely awol yet again.

. A lot better in the first half again but they at least scored first .

If Westbrook is fit he needs to start , he's out most progressive midfielder. None of the others are brave enough on the ball and willing to show for it in tight areas. We could barely string 2 passes together at times.
-
More positives than negatives for me. Their keeper made some superb saves. Stupid goal to concede however, should never be caught out 3 on 3, when you are defending a lead. Cant comment on the sending off as no idea if the ref did warn Gibson.
-
Not pretty but still very much in the mix.
McCann will get it sorted.
I remain confident.
-
Ah another meltdown because we don’t win, our fans are laughable.
Could we play and be better sure but you guys miss the the most important thing….
We are 3rd!!!!!!!!!!!

If your best player is Kyle Hurst then you're lucky to be top half

According to bbc radio Essex commentator, we are the best team to play there this season. Only saw last 20 mins. What was Gibson doing. Why do players think a yard will make a difference. He was told yet moved it again. Hope he gets fined.

Kyle is not our best player at all.
Has proven that when given a run of games he flatters to decieve.
Plays his best games either off the bench or when given the odd start.
Our best player by far is olowu.
Molly easnt the only player to go awol today. There doesnt seem to be any cohesion at the moment.
Last seadons runs molly came good when he could play a 1 touch lay off a turn and recieve it back on the run, but right now he doesnt have that option.

Won't be for much longer with performances the way they are, also the quality in this league this season is terrible.

First goal they have conceded in 8 games. It was never going to be easy so in my view a decent point.
-
Also on Molyneux I hope this new signing makes him second fiddle. He was best when Adelakun was here and the main man.

Apart from the blatant foul on Ironside I thought the ref did well up until that point.

I take it you didn’t enjoy it, got cold after halftime and it’s a fair way back, at least I can have a lie in the morning

Why was he a pillock? Ref marked the spot and gibson put the ball down a yard in front of the mark. Ref made them put the ball back so Gibson moved the foam to where he wanted. Total bellend! hope he gets a stiff fine from the club.

We will be lucky to finish in the play offs , unless be get 3 quality players in January again.

Then why are we not doing anything to combat this??
That is the same as saying everytime we got in their box our strikers fired wide but their strikers hit it between the posts.
Its not a meltdown but currently we have been 2nd best too often

Give over of all the dark arts and gamesmanship that goes off every week, rubbing a ball against some foam gets you sent off.

We are such a frustrating team. Our passing and decision making in the second half was poor
First half we were great. We need to be more consistent.
Olowu MOM by a country mile

Certainly sounds like a stupid thing to do if he's already on a yellow. Refs won't miss those opportunities.
He has an immature streak in him and he's needs to realise football is a very short career and it could be passing him by.
-
Step in the right direction I thought !Moly is currently a passenger and needs benching, Clifton added some guile into the midfield and nearly scored, passing is a problem all over the pitch, Grant needs to find his best team and a winning formula, or like I predicted a few weeks ago he’ll lose the fans ! I know there’s a few already calling for his head, it’s too soon yet, give him the January window and let’s see where he takes us at the end of the season, anything other than promotion is a failure and he’ll be on thin ice !
-
Aye, another glittering McCann performance. It’s all the players he’s brought to the clubs fault though. Can’t wait for late Feb for all the kids he is about to bring in to bed into the squad.
-
That was a ok away performance against a team that make it really hard for you. The red card was a joke and ended the chances of us winning. Their keeper kept them in the game with a couple of good saves.
Moly needs a rest. His 6 month purple patch is over and he’s gone back to being the player he has been for the rest of his career.
-
Agree Joe was totally on it again today and was definitely MoM.
Gibson was absolutely stupid, the ref told him and therefore he deserved the yellow.
There was no need to move the ball he wasn’t gaining any advantage whatsoever, the guy needs to get his head sorted.
-
Olowu was magnificent. Their wingers and centre forward were impressive as were both goalkeepers. Molyneux has lost his impetus.
Overall they matched us comfortably. We need to be quicker on the ball and far more imaginative when the opposition does not allow us space.

This pitch today was hardly one for a crisp passing game was it. The midfield 3 picked were picked on their ability without the ball. Although I don't rate Broadbent at that as well as on it.
Oluwu is the best CB in this league. What a player. 3 year deal and highest paid player at the club he needs making.
-
For christs sake get off Molyneau’s back.
If he’s not putting balls into the box he’s always showing for the ball.
Yes he’s a lightweight when it comes to a tackle or a 50/50 but he can kill the 45 yard ball from his keeper (who often than not looks to him as the attacking outlet) dead then look to go past the 3 defenders (more often than not) which he doesn’t always win surprise, surprise.
As for “….going back to the player he always was…” You’ve been dying to ‘kick him’ with that old, tired trot out line now for 12 months or more.

Absolutely, god knows what people are expecting he's a league 2 footballers who has runs of great and not so good of form if he was consistent he'd be 2 leagues higher.
We have a lot of work to do to get the midfield balance right, we're not too far away.
-
We are miles off it, we are only showing signs we will fall away unless we get the recruitment right in January.
Our midfield is poor, give Westbrook a chance as he's the one player we have that has some composure.
Olowu needs signing up ASAP, if we get a strong offer for Molyneux let him go. He thinks he is far better than what he is, struts around like a show pony, not had a good game for months, just cuts in on his left and whacks it as he hasn't got pace to take someone on the outside. He thinks he is capable of championship absolutely no chance.
-
Also on Molyneux I hope this new signing makes him second fiddle. He was best when Adelakun was here and the main man.
Perhaps he’s going to the main man somewhere else… reckon he’s on his way out and has his mind on other things

People are entitled to an opinion on this forum , nobodys baying for his blood . I think teams have sussed him out, as mentioned above he hasn't got the pace to get on the outside and deliver a decent cross. As a team we are very frustrating to watch , slow & ponderous, don't get enough crosses into the box and when do we ever play our striker in behind? Nobody in midfield capable of unlocking a defence.

First half we were really good, second half our passing was poor, & if you watch us closely we have good endeavour & effort but are almost always second best to every second ball or fail to wrestle away possession from opponents in the midfield battles. We were better today than of late, but we look more & more like a play off side than a top 3.

So go on experts, explain what Molly needs to do to have beaten the 3 men marking him every time he received the ball today?
Even better tell us where his team mates are, cos there’s definitely 2 totally unmarked, wondering around doing sod all waiting for the miracle man to turn into Cruyff.
Jesus wept.
Oh and by the way Molly tried to go outside the 3 on him several times today, so, fact! He doesn’t always cut in.
Those wanting rid, tell me who’s better than him in this position then…ffs

He gets 2 or 3 men on him all the time because he constantly takes too many touches and allows them to get back.
He cuts in on second half when we have countered and instead of switching it guess what tries to take his man on and loses it.

Never had 3 on him for a start , admittedly he's been doubled up on a lot this season but he was miles off it today, first touch , passing , crossing not good enough today

There was a triangle of 3, 2 blocking inside run and outside run. Then one beyond the 2 just in case he got through.
That triangle was on him as he received the ball, every time… I watched every minute of the game.
-
Olowu will be playing in L1 next year one way or another so he’s not going to sign a contract in a hurry.
-
Molly clearly is having confidence issues.
The guy clearly involves himself on social media (x) alot and probably allows the negative criticism get to him too much.
He is a player that has stated he wants to succeed here and become a legend, but that will not happen when fans get in his back when the team go on a poor run.
Dont forget that the constant chopping and changing means he hasnt had a constant partnership on that righthand side
I dont think he is going anywhere but if he was to go then he wouldnt be short of clubs throwing contracts at him

Was there 3 players around him when he went to control the ball on the touchline and it went under his foot for a throwing to Colchester?!

it’s like that most games now where he has at least 2 men on him, where as a lot of time both sterry and maxwell are left one on one with their wingers

Molyneux needs to go back to one touch football. He can't take a player on and beat him. In fact he probably struggles to beat an egg!
I thought we played a lot better as a team today and matched Colchester, but once Gibson was sent off we struggled.
One thing I find strange is why does a player get a yellow card for moving the ball at a free kick but referees never give yellow cards when players steal 5 or 6 yards at throw ins?
Aren't they both cheating to try and gain an advantage?
-

He's tried to move the ball a couple of metres (pointless) twice maybe three times, each time the ref has moved the ball back. So the ref had to get the spray out to mark where he wanted it and Gibbo then picked that up and moved it
Zero fault with the ref in this instance
-
Jordan Gibson is getting all the flak for the free kick incident, but I thought that the referee had booked James Maxwell, as he was the one that picked the ball up, after Jordan flattened the foam. Wasn't Maxwell equally as guilty if the ref has told them not to move the ball?

I thought the sending off masked over a really poor 2nd half performance by us. Gibson had a decent game up until that point and took his goal well.

Pretty sure had he controlled the ball, the 3 would have been right there as they were all game.
Still awaiting answers?

Gibson does himself no favours. Utter schoolboy thinking and it’s back fired big time. His attitude has been questionable since he arrived and this sums it up really.
Needs to sort himself out or he can find another club for me
-
It was never going to be a quick fix. The rot set in after Covid and until last year the decline was alarming. Some people are more responsible than others, this forum has to take some accountability for not letting users have a free voice.
We need to stick with Grant as he will keep improving the team, as investment is there.
We are in a good position and many would have taken this at the beginning of the year.
-
It will be interesting with Faulkner available, more realistic the Hull game I suppose and I would put Flints loan back a week and play him as well in that game if they are loaning him out again, two good defenders with pace and stature, and an eye for a goal going forward for set pieces.
-

The ref has made a situation when there isn’t one. If we took the free kick from anywhere within a foot or so of where the bell was it makes no difference. The situation didn’t need managing.

I just don't get your love affair with Bobby ?
-

Odd interjection. He will be 4th choice at best and probably go out on loan again. He won’t play. And I rate him more than most.

He defied the ref who around about the same time booked two of their players over one bad tackle. One for the tackle and the other for an angry reaction from another player. He did not tolerate defiance and Gibson defied him most deliberately. Credit is due to him for his goal which was very skilfully flighted. His free kick in the second half demanded a very good save to keep it out in a match where more of the skill came from the home side. Their left winger and the centre forward were impressive. Both Sharp and Anderson might have been booked too, but somehow they escaped.

Their Centre Half should have been booked late on fro hacking down Hurst, but books Gibson for moving the ball a minimal amount, one offence would have no bearing on the game, the other could have resulted in serious injury, how is that fair

I genuinely can’t believe the negativity and extreme opinions circulating lately regarding our players and management. The criticism has become harsh and unwarranted, and it’s disheartening to see.
Take Luke Molyneux, for example—a superbly talented player who, once again, is giving his all for the club. Yet, some fans are quick to tear him down instead of acknowledging his commitment and skill. It feels like certain people are constantly searching for scapegoats and negativity, perhaps as an outlet for frustrations in their own lives.
We’re Doncaster Rovers, not Real Madrid! We're in the mix for the league title and pushing for automatic promotion. That’s no small feat, and this team deserves support and encouragement, not constant criticism.
Sure, we all want the team to succeed, but the relentless negativity helps no one—not the players, not the management, and certainly not the club as a whole. Let’s get behind the lads and show them the support they deserve. This team is fighting for promotion and give a lot to our community let’s not forget that.

A few thoughts,
We made very heavy work of the match, in the past we would have buckled late on and lost the point, we stuck at it, a toughed it out, credit to the team for that.
Olowu once again puts in massive shift.
Mols had for me his least effective game ever, how he managed to stay on for 76 mins defies belief, needed hooking for his own good, his run of poor form is now really hurting us.
As a team we really do need to be get smart when we play, it looks like every side we play are more "on it" with the pulls tugs and falling to the ground under a touch, its costing us dear.
We didn't play the conditions at all well, that pitch was awful, why did we try to pass on a pitch like that, it caused us nothing but lost possession and danger throughout?
Gibson was his own worst enemy, the ref (is he related to ex ref Paul Durkin? looked like a younger and sh*t version of him) who was very inconsistent, and didn't look fit enough to ref at this level had no choice after he defied him three times.
We need to find some form and consistency soon, our big squad is not helping us at all in this regard and GM has a job of work on his hands.
We should all have reason to be concerned at this time, the management have a big job to get this team up automatically as things stand.

Some over reactions again on here almost like Wednesday fans. We put in a decent performance today against one of the form teams on a horrible (for both teams) pitch

Perhaps given our differing views on how we performed & where ‘we are’ or ‘perceive ’ ourselves to be, we ought to wait until we hear from our ‘guest pundit’ from Barnsley (is it ‘kez 1998’ or something?) to give his verdict.
Then to a man we can all say ‘inwardly’ “Ah of course. Thanks ‘Barnsley’ for your wisdom & guidance”.

I thought that we have a football forum.
People can express their thoughts and views.

That goes both ways Hound, as well.

That’s fine for me Alan.

And so it begins

To me the game was like most of the season, we have not been outplayed all the game in most games, very few in fact, probably only v Chesterfield have we been well beaten from start to finish of a game.
Our problem has been in games, especially lately, is that we have not been clinical in both defensive and attacking areas, making defensive errors at one end and spurning relatively easy chances at the other.
Putting full games of good play has been difficult and apart from the keeper and Olowu coming to mind most players have had indifferent seasons when it comes to consistent form with good games interspersed with kids stuff the next game and even in individual games.
Consistency being the word most descriptive of what I see wrong with us rather than lack of effort and talent up to press this season. having said that we are not doing bad sitting third in the division, but I have more ambition for this set of players than third.

F*cking hate this place now. What a set of w*nkers there are in here.
We are still in automatic places.

Don't stamp your feet and wail fella, we're a democracy in this country. People will have different views and opinions to you and their entitled to say so. Virtually no one is saying sack the manager or get rid of players, expectations have been raised by the club and fans are disappointed for the progress to not to match this, everyone thinks the team should and can be doing better.
Not everyone has been used to years of the club underperforming and just getting by.

If you arent used to years of the club underperforming and just getting by welcome to DRFC.
We drew AWAY at a club who are in better form than us.
We won't win every game.
The sh*te spouted in here is embarrassing.

Why has the title of this thread gone on and on? Is the forum trying to piss off Grant McCann?

TBF you were stamping your feet in another thread threatening to quit the forum , if you hate this place so much then just walk away , just seems like attention seeking to me. As Danumdon points out nobody is asking for the manager to be sacked or questioning our position in the table. But performances have been underwhelming lately and I'm confused as to what our style of play is currently.

I wasn't threatening to quit the forum, who would that be a threat to?
I said I was getting fed up of this place and I am. Some of the drivel on here is ridiculous.
I am frustrated with our current form and agree that there is no style of play and the chopping and changing I can't get my head around......but we are third and GM knows a lot more than the majority on here.
As per my attention seeking thread, I was brought up with the mindset of if you've nowt good to say then don't say owt.
Currently the squad and manager are doing their job which is to achieve promotion.
Yes we aren't playing great but let's be optimistic :rtid:
-
the only fitting place for the adjective underwhelming applies to destructive comments on the fans' forum. The disappointments on the field of play are addressed by a very good management team .

You must understand....those wanting him to go have taken Rovers from League 2 to the Premier League in 4 seasons.
