Referee: Jeremy Simpson.
Assistants: Mark Dwyer and Richard Woodward.
4th official: Alex Gray.
-
He has had a long career going back to 2008 but only reffed us 7 times.
Our record under him is w4 D1 and L2.
He took the home game against Sunderland when their CH caught the ball on the halfway line to prevent us getting a one on one, and only booked the CH.
An incredibly bad decision which many of us will remember.
He averages around five yellow cards per game over his career.

That was unbelievable. I'd forgotton about it till you have just mentioned it. Got to be up with the most awful decisions going. Both hands above his head and caught the ball. Maybe thats why he has been kept away from us

Bump
-
Terrible referee, cost us on the first goal by not giving a foul on one of our players on the halfway on the West side
-
Horrific.
-
Still hasn't learned what handball is
-
Little man syndrome. Absolutely dreadful

Nil nil nil
Deffo wasn't Homer Simpson was he ?

I don't often comment in this section but that clown was a disgrace to the profession.
-
Terrible.
Got quite a few big decisions wrong including two potential pens for us.
The longer the game went on, the more he seemed to give free kicks to Vale and less of them to us.
At the end of the game there was 5minutes of added on time, starting with a Vale goal kick.
It took 30 seconds to get the ball back into play.
Another goal kick took a further 25 seconds to get back into play.
Two throw ins used up just less than a minute waiting to be taken.
On 95 minutes and 7 seconds the final whistle was blown, so only a few seconds short of two and a half minutes football played out of the five minutes added on.
-
Just as corrupt as the rest of them.
-
All you can expect from a Ref is honesty, fairness, and equality. Today's Ref exhibited none of those qualities. An abject failure who should be looking for another career as he's a total incompetent in his current one.
-
Just use search and you see , he's not improved in all his time Refereeing

Good point Hound and sadly I saw a goal kick that took 40 seconds to get back in play as well
Do you remember v Notts County there was 3 minutes added time at the end. 2 minutes had already gone ( ball not necessarily in play ) when Notts C player was offside in NW corner
TSL ran to get ball in play but offside Player went into a wrestling match trying to take ball out of his hands.
Ref tried to get him to let go of Ball and let TSL take the kick. In the end the Ref walked to where they were and wagged his finger at the County Player
Ref then ran to halfway and I saw clock was on 48 minutes and a few seconds . As soon as TSL kicked the ball the Ref blew for FT so none of that stoppage in play was added
It's pathetic.

Just thinking back to the five minutes added on, there were two second half goals which would have accounted for at least two minutes of added time, ten substitutions (are refs still supposed to add thirty seconds for each one) two or three situations where PV players sat down to delay restarts when they were supposedly injured or had cramp, plus several of those thirty second goal kicks and throw ins.
Was five minutes really a reflection of how much time should have been added on?

No and it's why the games rulers HAVE to embrace a different way of time keeping *
* Sticking to my New Year's resolution lol

I wonder who gave him a rating of four?
-
Assessor gave him an 8 and West Stand Lino gave him a 4 on here
Without the 4 he has attracted 0 points from 23 votes which is an average of NIL
WITH the 4 he has 4 points from 24 votes which is an average of 0.16
I'm biased but he is flattered by 0.16.
In the crowd at the end were people who said he should be flattened but nobody can condone violence in any situation .
It's a football match after all , and any punishment due to him should come via the EFL
I'm sure they haven't kept him away from Refereeing since April 24 without good reason , it's just a pity they let him back and especially in a game involving us.
He's been a 4th Official about 5 times in the intervening period and one could make the argument that that is beyond his abilities

Think they had a player down so there was a wait for the goal kick

Just voted and his average will have slipped further as it was a zero from me

They did have a player down, you are right.
He went down just before 90 minutes and was subbed on 90 minutes while the ball was dead.
The ref blew his whistle to restart the the game and the keeper kicked the ball back into play when 90 minutes and thirty seconds was on the stadium clock.
We talked it through as it was happening because we have seen it happen so many times (where hardly any of the add on time is actually ball in play).
Check it yourself next time one team or another is trying to waste time at the end of a game.
West Ham v Liverpoool last weekend was another instance.
Four minutes added but less than two minutes played and that game was a foregone conclusion at 5-0.

Its time these assessor reports were made public
-
I've been after them for ages
Only ever found 1 for a League somewhere around Manchester akin to Rossington , Armthorpe , Thorne
It was a great read setting out everything the Assessor thought whether good bad or neutral
All areas were covered be they fitness , decisions , or interaction with players and other officials
Every major bone of contention spotted by the Assessor was laid bare. What he thought was wrong , and what the Ref did , and what the Ref might have done
I would love to see them published for every Ref in every one of our games and I would pay good money to see the one done on Saturday on one (Non) Homer Simpson

Absolute kitson
