Does anyone have the programme for this game? Looking to add it to the collection as it was my first Donny game. 8-0 what a baptism. Not looked back since. 28 seasons in.. where has the time gone.
-
I’d already been going over 20 years by then but my abiding memory is Van Hoojidonk scoring 3 and our PA man pronouncing his name differently each goal.
Sorry no programme though

I remember my granddad calling Van Hooijdonk every time he touched the ball. After he scored his last goal and they had about half a dozen “You’re still a f****** donkey Van Hooijdonk”
What a place Belle Vue was.

I thought Van Hoojidonk got 5?

I thought it was 4 or 5 from memory. Official records say 2.
Dean Saunders got 2 as well.
The goals are here…

There's one on eBay currently at £14.99, which is a bit steep.
It is a rarer one for that season, but they come up relatively frequently and you'll probably get one for between £5 and £8 if you keep looking.

I remember we broke off our holiday with the kids at Golden Sands to come back for the game, was a long journey back!
-
I bought 2 tickets for the match but I only used 1 because the other 1 was for the girl I was living with at the time, but she decided that day to go back to her husband. She never did me the money for it, ah well. Hull away on Sunday

That was a bad game and started a run of terrible results at the start of what was a terrible season. We lost 8-0, 5-0 and 3-0, with a 2-1 defeat at the City Ground almost a victory amidst that run.
-
I’m sure we cheered the later Forest goals in the popside just to cheer us up

That is also my abiding memory of that game. The whole crowd laughed. Was he doing it mischievously on purpose? The late great Ken Avis and a PA system that worked.
Van Hooijdonk went on strike because he wasn’t getting picked.
I also went to the second leg, how pointless was that? ‘9-nil, We’re going to win 9-nil’. The goal and a battling 2-1 defeat felt pretty good.
-
I'm sure that the Forest players were told to ease up at 8 so as not to cause us any more embarrassment,
-
99% sure I'll have this as I was at the game and it was the done thing for a nerdy teenager at the time to get the programme. Will check and let you know as will be in the attic.
-
I’m still that nerdy teenager 50 years on
-
I still keep ticket stubs. My lad has done the same since he was 6 years old.

I still have mine from Wembley and Cardiff.

Surprised you did not sieze the opportunity to pull a replacement gf with the allure of a free ticket for a Donny Rovers match.
