Title: Flood warning
Post by: drfchound on January 06, 2025, 07:25:50 pm
I’ve just had a call from the automated flood warning number.
I’m in Hatfield but the voice message said that Stainforth and Fishlake are under immediate thread of flooding.
To be updated at 8.30am tomorrow.
With all the snow melt from the Sheffield area still to come it sounds potentially very bad.

I don’t know about your area but do the authorities dredge the rivers out your way, they don’t around here. They do the dykes but it’s not the same people for the rivers

I’m about 500M from the river, theres a canal between us and the River with a big hollow dip between the canl and River that stretches all the way to the M18, River levels are falling in Dincaster and upstream, we’ve had the floodline warning about an hour ago, we’re insured if the worst happens

I’m the same age and last time they did it near me was when the local pit was open, because the slurry tip was close to the river and when it rained it used overflow into it

No not had any email from then, as of now 7am the River Level is at 6.74m and falling, below the record level of 2 years ago of 6.92m, we are still dry, the River peaked at 6.76m at 2:30am

Let’s hope you remain dry then.
Edit:   Local BBC news bulletin on tv just now says you need to still be on guard (possibly more melting snow causing the river to swell).

Every measuring station from Penistone are reporting falling levels

I’m working today so I’m sure I’ll see for myself when I’m out and about
