Boo! Hiss!
-
Sh@t !
-
That's that then.
-
Spurs want him to play League 1 football so makes sense, just a shame he is exactly what we need right now in the midfield.
-
Mc will say we never went in for him. We are looking at another player.
-
Gutted about that. Good luck to him.
-
Get the blond No6 from Mansfield the dirty bugger who can play a bit is just what we need
-
What a shame. I can understand Spurs view, but we’ve missed out there and we may regret losing out on him.
Unless, of course, they’ve got someone better lined up.
-
Shame. Best of luck to him.
-
I don’t think he will have a massive impact there. I can’t be the only one who doesn’t think he’s actually that great?!
-
Even of we were in for him, we wasnt going to get him if a league 1 club showed intrest.
Spurs will want to see what he can do in that league and matty will want to prove he can step up from league 2 to 1 if he has ambitions of breaking into the spurs 1st team.
-

He was an improvement on what we have. Sending Kelly back to bring in Craig would have been good business.
-
Spurs will get rid, he is nowhere near their squad. His agent will have wanted him higher than division 2 it's his fall back in the summer if he doesn't get division1.
-
Well it was a bold effort to try but the odds were always against us. There was no logic in him returning to a level he'd already proven himself. As much as he may have liked the idea of playing with us again, Spurs would want to see him tested again to show his stint at Barnsley wasn't above his capabilities.
Good luck to him and let's see where that leaves us with any other options.
-
Higher level, we have to take that these days unfortunately.
We do need someone in that position I'm sure but ultimately that's why you don't just have one target.
-

He just ‘fit’ in our midfield at the end of last season. GM is going to have to work some magic before the window closes, as we are very much in need of a bit of quality, particularly in midfield.
-
Gutted, in GM we trust and support.
-
If Tottenham wanted him at a League 1 club then that’s where he has gone. Its a Shame
Let’s see if we can get another midfield player on loan or not
-
The positive is that reporter was adamant we were in for him, so it proves we are looking.
-

I think you maybe :)
-
I can foresee Sbarra going out on loan.
He had a good reputation before joining us, so you’d think he’d have enquiries.
-

If you could get on the blower and give GM a better prospect, we’ll all be grateful.
Cheers in advance
Big blow this.
Hilarious we have fans saying Craig’s not that great…. Chuff me we’ve got Ben Close, suppose he’s fabulous.
-
Not necessarily any value in just going to the higher places club. Possibly less value a lot of the time.
-
Disappointed as I really liked Craig and am sure most people would agree we were much better with him in the team last season.
However, I'm not sure he would have added the same value to us this season and he would undoubtedly have been under a bit more pressure given the level of expectation around him.
The end of this window and the end of the season will ultimately be the barometer as to just how big a blow this is but I'm going to remain positive and think we'll be OK without Craig and, come this time next season, we will be in a position to attract players (and their parent clubs) that want league one football
-

Yes and not having the ready-made product means it will be very much a matter of GM showing his ability in finding a good alternative rather than just reverting to a known proven asset. It will be a true test of his managerial skill.
-
Spurs clearly still bitter about us beating them in the FA Youth Cup at White Hart Lane.

I agree with GazLaz on this one, while Craig was very good, I don't think there was any outstanding feature about him like an Herbie Kane when he came. I'm sure there is as good out there can fit our style of play like Craig did.

Yes, said before that even with Craig we still have to find the right blend with what we have but there's little doubt he would have raised the bar another notch with a player who can make a step up.

Excellent post Jon

Do threads about players who we don’t have count as negative? Because I’m not sure they raise morale, not do they provide enlightenment to our cause.

Grant's staying tight lipped -https://www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk/sport/football/doncaster-rovers-hoping-for-second-signing-as-grant-mccann-answers-matty-craig-question-4938856

Straight in to the starting line up for Mansfield in the cup v Wigan tonight.
-
Subbed off on 67 minutes.
Mansfield 2-0 down.
-
he was on the bench and came on against Wycombe when they lost
and didn't get his oar in against Cambridge - wasn't even in the squad
sold down the river ? :coat:
-
Sounds like he's done nothing since he left us.
-
He's not played much in fairness
-
Ironically probably would have shone in this Tottenham team.
-
Disappointed he did'nt comeback for a second spell with us,But Im really excited that we may likely have as good if not better player in Charlie crew.
-
Didn't cost us a penny when he was here as well!
