On after the Arsenal Man U game today.
Who do we want?
Spurs look beatable to me.
-
Anyone of the big clubs away. Or Leeds.
-
One of the other South Yorkshire sides left in the draw…. Oh hang on a minute

Anyone of the big clubs away. Or Leeds.
I’d be quite happy if we never played Leeds again.
-
A home tie please so we can have a big turnout of our own fans. Don't care who.
-
Apart from an away free dip at the "NEW OLDHAM" a.k.a. Everton (think about it !!)
Exeter home would do nicely .. them beating us assured their future most of us will recall as they got a load of "manure money"

Everton away, or anyone at home please

Think so. Didn't we have two years in a row of "what ifs"?. Exeter getting Man U and Scarborough getting Chelsea.

Just checked - they were back to back. Scarborough in 03/04 (although they had to beat Port Vale as well) then Exeter the year after in 04/05.
-
Plus over £100,000 for today and a guaranteed £125,000 in round 4.
-
Exeter at home, then big 5th rd draw
-

That’s actually very decent money for us.

Not true
https://www.thefa.com/competitions/thefacup/prize-fund
But we have wone £235k so far
-
If we get a big draw now we can spend more in Jan with that in mind. So I’d rather get a big team now than get to the next round tbh.
-
It’s a TV game we want now for another £125k
-
I’ve a feeling it’ll be Chelsea

Yes please…

Virtually guaranteed , I would have thought.

Hopefully not, wouldn’t we have to have Lawlor in goal?
Unless Bromley and Dagenham cause upsets we will be on tele.
-

Why do some folk automatically presume cup money will be splurged on new signings? Perhaps it may go to reducing the club's dependency on Terry's very generous support.
-
Exeter at home or one of the big boys would be nice. I work with a Coventry ST holder and have a funny feeling???
-
What number are we?
-
Can any statto confirm that we’ve never played Chelsea in any competitive game.
That’d do for me.
-
I’ve a feeling it’ll be Chelsea
Would be good, they are the only current Prem/EFL side we have never played in a league match :scarf:
We did play then once in the very early days of the League Cup .................... and Chelsea won 0-7 at Belle Vue

They were a very average Div 1 side at the time, but I think there were still 15k at Belle Vue that day.

Wow. Not very often you miss owt, DU. As a kid, I saw them beat us 2-0 at Belle Vue in the FA Cup, with 17 years old Jimmy Greaves in the side.

As I said previous I have the Rovers v Chelsea prog when a young Jimmy Greaves played at Belle Vue - we have talked about that match in the last 2 years on here that was the F A Cup

Yes, remarkably, we could be the lowest ranked team in the 4th round.

Extra time at the Emirates. We'll have to wait a bit longer for the draw.

Not if it's another stupid kick off time
-
Moly wants either Liverpool or Newcastle away. Not going to argue with him.
-
Tottenham away. New Ground though I went to WHLane quite a few times
Plus I want to see the Beer glasses fill from bottom once or twice
-
A London club away please.
We will end up with Plymouth away no doubt
-
Spurs away for me, chance to make a weekend of it...

Liverpool at Anfield, we owe them from the 70’s

Knowing our luck we will get Mansfield at home
-
not the same without Ted Croker's velvet ball-bag....
-
Are we the lowest ranked team deffo through?
-
Palace at home.
-
Ffs. Again.
-
Surely a tv game
-
Boring. No new away ground to be had. Oh well.
-
But winnable?
-
Premier League Team At Home, full stadium, possible TV game, couldn’t ask for much better
-
Are we the lowest ranked team deffo through?
Only daggers left. Play millwall
Tomorrow
-
Ffs. Again.
[/qu
It could have been Plymouth away.
-
Are we the lowest ranked team deffo through?
If Dagenham lose at Millwall we are.
Bit meh that but not bad. Should be televised and if they make a few changes it feels like we should be able to make a game of it.
-
Worst kind of draw possible. No money and very very very unlikely to win against a team of their profile. They went quite strong today.
-
Are we the lowest ranked team deffo through?
Looks like it. I can only see Dagenham & Redbridge that are lower than Rovers & they've still to play Millwall.
-
Ffs. Again.

Yes, of course there are positives. Thought is was winnable last time in 2019 but their early goal blew the wind out of our sails.
-
Grant McCann was in charge last time we played Palace in FA Cup at home, granted we're meeting them a round earlier this time.
-
Our tie has the biggest gap between the two sides but Lineker didn’t even mention our game when summarising the draw.
Too busy getting a stiffy over Van Nistlerooy facing Man U. They love that pointless stuff.

Would've been a bit better if got a PL team we hadn't played in a cup game too recently mind

We'll make more than we did today

Not often i disagree with you Gaz but this is an exception. Will be a full house, probably on TV as well, and gets the club publicity, and you just never know do you. Far better than a Cardiff, Exeter Plymouth away draw etc.
-

when there were just 4 teams in the pot it was our get out of jail card.
Just checked when Roy Hodgson & Palace last came here in the F A CUP
17 Feb 2019 Doncaster Rovers v Crystal Palace L 0-2 FA Cup
I expect the same score ... they always have grease lightening strikers AND ARE A FANTASTIC CLUB TO GET LOANEES FROM as they hoover up the South London Talent
Update
From the date I looks like that was also the 4th round ? deja vu once again ?
and let's hope they see us as a good footballing side with a proper stadium and maybe they might loan us a player next season when we are promoted.

Likely to get tv money.
Big crowd.

And they had that cheating bugger who scored 2 penalties agin us at their place right at the start of Dave Penny's team coming good and winning the 4th Div. Rovers played well that night. We scored a cracking goal - best goal of the night by a mile.
BobG
-
Not a bad draw for me,
Incomparable to Plymouth or Exeter home or away,
Plenty of other ties were worse than this one,
We will give them a game and it won’t be like the usual home games where people just sit in and defend

Neil Shipperley should have been sent off in that game. Utter kitson.

Yes! Thank you. A stellar pass out from defending a corner by our midfielder. Why can't I remember names these days?! We got him from Mansfield I think. Tough bloke. Good player.

Yes from a cutting Doolan pass. Andy Johnson "won" the penalties for Palace I think.

I think it’s a decent draw for us. We will give Palace a game.

It will sell out for sure. Did Palace sell the north stand last time?
14,010 was the attendance in 2019 (5th rnd) so near enough a sell out but can't recall what allocation we gave them. Suspect we won't be giving them 4000 this time anyway, so hope we home fans rise to the challenge.
-

Gaz, I rarely disagree with you, especially on your assessment of players and performances, and indeed your analysis of performance indicators, albeit I am not a massive fan of xg. However, on this occasion you are talking nonsense. The draw could have been much better but there were a number of worse potential games in there and, when you consider the final 4 balls were, Cardiff, Stoke, Palace and ourselves, this was undoubtedly the best of the remaining six ( potential home and away) options
-
i used this year's 4th round matches to be played around Saturday 8th February 2025 as a guide
and presumed the match played on Feb 17th 2019 would be at the same stage ?? 4th round :headbang:

At the time, it was well publicised that it was our first time in the 5th round for decades.. it was only a few years ago too.
-

We'll make more than we did today
We got £115k for winning today which was handy.
Gate money will be low in the next round and we only get 45% of that (minus the VAT). Then probably 100k for being in TV, if we are chosen. Likely to be similar.
-

Hate knowing our (or anyone else’s) number before the draw, thankfully managed to avoid the sanitised pre draw ball numbers being called out and displayed by putting my fingers in my ears, humming and closing my eyes.
Made the actual draw miles more tense and exciting.
Also find it hilarious we have folk moaning we have a 4th round FA Cup home tie against a premiership team. Absolutely remarkable.
Great accomplishment from the team…Well Done Rovers.
-
We beat Chorley, Charlton, Preston and Oldham to get to the 5th round in 2019.
-
Could it be a Friday night game live on TV?
-
As it came down to the last few balls I had fingers crossed for Man City but not to be. So Palace at the Eco it is - again!!
-
I suppose it will all depend. Can we sell a ground out at £20 rather than the usual £15 for adults. Then the concessions etc
-
If I remember rightly, when we played them previously the Crystal Palace fans loved it up here, cheap tickets beer and food and a great stadium, and no bother at all.
They couldn't get over it., quite a few writing how they had enjoyed it up here after the game.
-
I wonder if we could sell as many as the Crewe game? I’d be tempted to only give them half the north stand and limit their vocal presence and try to sell the other half to us. Half the stand is surely still around 1500 so should fit the 10% quota we are obligated to give them
-
Palace fans were always great during our Championship years, selling out the away end if I remember correctly.
They are always very loud too.
Could we limit them to 1500 and still sell out though?

I think we could, the PO semi final showed it’s possible. We could have sold the whole stadium out that day, the demand was there.

Nonsense.
Would you say an away draw at Plymouth, Exeter or Mansfield would have been better?
We can fill the stadium for this and they ARE beatable. Stockport ran them close today.
Cheer up.

I think it’s up to 15% officially. The eco power lends itself to more than this as the concourse can be segregated around into the east stand

Fair enough if that is right.

Put them in east/north end and then the rest of the north to us if it’s 15%. That should do it
Also, hull only gave us 10% today (2.5k of 25k). So must only be 10%

That cup day, Palace fans packed out the away end and sang and created a great atmosphere, it was like they reversed our day…. They acted as if it was their cup final, not ours. One of the best away followings I can remember (just edging out Southend, at 5-1 down)
-

Nope,
The Southend lot can’t be topped..
-
Palace game is Monday 10 February with 7.45pm kick off.
-
That’s got to hit the away attendance surely.
-
Live on bbc i player
-
What a crap date and time to hold the game, not much thought given to the fans, both Palace and Rovers. School night will keep away some of the younger fans and those that work. The game is not even on any of the main channels of the BBC just iplayer.
COYR
-
That sucks for the real football fans who'd rather watch live football. I can imagine that will give some Crystal Palace fans too many headaches logistically and have to resort to watching it on TV themselves.
Also bound to affect our fans too who have other commitments.
-
It’s doesn’t appear a very good deal for people who actually want to go to the game.
-
We have been absolutely shafted. Not content with the fiasco of the 3rd round we have not been selected as a TV game with all the monies that go with that. As the lowest placed team in the 4th round v a PL team we should have been nailed on for TV slot. BBCiPlayer will not bring in anything like the same money. That coupled with a Monday night ko when we are playing a London team will probably reduce the away following. I’m disgusted and angry. It’s the FAC for goodness sake. The smaller clubs are supposed to get a fair share of the spoils!

Less than half of the tv money of the games on the main channels, stinks to high heaven
-
On the plus side, we’ll be in the 5th round draw
-
Really awful decision by the FA people.
As has been said, not good for Palace fans and we should also think of the many Rovers fans who have to travel longish distances for matches at the Eco.
On the upside though, if the draw is on the Sunday like it was last time at least we will know who we are going to play in Round Five after we win the game.
-
Kind of cements what I said about it being a poor draw. Not even made TV.
-

There we have it. An all premier league tie as the centrepiece of the televised games.
Van Nistlerooy might even be sacked by then and they’ll have to put all their specially made nostalgic VTs in the bin.
-
Maybe it's down to us and the Palace fans that do come to make it a proper colourful football spectacle?
Let's get those flags out

Bang on about the flags Nudga.
Whenever we have a match where there are lots of flags on show, especially under the lights, it always seems to give the atmosphere a big lift.
