Recalled by Stoke from Walsall.
-
It was always going to happen. Never fall in love with a loan
-
Big blow for them but they've got a decent cushion.
-
he went back to Stoke during the week and trained with them and I had my fingers crossed .
Hopefully Stoke can get the double up and recall their on loan goalkeeper.
Apparently all their loans are deliberately from nearby higher league clubs. A deliberate policy
TRANNI AT 2-0 were unlucky their battling midfielder on a yellow was fouled and he picked the ball up for the free kick and the ref sent him off for handball and no foul. Even then they got it back to 2-1
Hopefully their other striker Matt can't finish without Lowe
Players loaned in
PLAYER FROM START END
Tommy Simkin Stoke 02 Jul, 2024
Nathan Asiimwe Charlton 10 Jan, 2025
George Hall Birmingham 30 Aug, 2024
Nathan Lowe Stoke 01 Aug, 2024
Reyes Cleary West Brom 20 Aug, 2024
-
.... and not ANY old Ref. Step forward Jeremy Simpson our Non Homer Ref recently
-
Seen rumours that he may be going back out on loan to Stockport.
-
They will find a replacement that scores plenty within their system.
-
Why’s their system so robust then Gaz ?
-
Because we score goals of all types, and creates from all angles. Centre halves and wing backs with multiple assists, as well as the midfielders and all forwards.
When Lowe hasn't played, others have come in and scored.
Lowe is different class at this level. As good as I've seen, but it's not the blow other L2 teams are hoping for. We'll replace him well, we've got a good recent history of recruiting goalscorers who go on to get double figures, because of the chances we create.
The biggest fear is that we lose one of two other players, even if it is for big money.

You're doing well, mate, and congratulations.
However, having seen all of your opponents, what do you think of our chances of promotion this season?
-
Right up there mate. I reckon County are the best we've faced by some way in terms of play, but they're vulnerable at the back. Then there's nothing between you, Crewe and Wimbledon for me.
Difficult to judge Salford as we played them early in the season when they were struggling.
Vale got results, but they're the pretenders for me. Even when they were winning, they were scraping by, but might start doing that again now they've won again.

He started well. At the game a few of us said we actually thought it was a nice change to get a decent one...then it all turned to :turd:
The challenge on Lowe from Finley on the halfway line looked a red from where we're sat (haven't watched it back). Very late and straight through him.
After that it was as if he was trying to stamp his authority, after the ship had sailed.
All the bookings were justified in a feisty first half, despite the Tranmere fans protestations.
Finley who was sent off for them (eventually) seemed determined to go. It was soft for a second yellow for hand ball, but you just can't do that. Schoolboy stuff. If it hadn't have been then it would have been soon after.
We've had worse this year. By far the worst is Stephen Parkinson - absolute disgrace. How is at EFL level is baffling.
-
Take away Lowe’s goals and Walsall still have a better goal difference than the teams in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and us in 7th.
-
I was really impressed with Walsall, their movement on and off the ball was on a different level to us.
-

Even without his point-changing goals, we'd still only lose 10 points and be on 45 points, and top.
NTT20 mentioned a couple of good stats earlier. If only the second halves from our games this season counted, we'd still have scored more than Crewe, Salford and Vale. And we'd still have scored more than those without Lowe's goals.
Anyway, are you going to go on a big winning run like last season? If you do, you'll grab an automatic spot, as no other team can find any consistency.

Vale sound like us under Darren Moore. We were well up there in L1 despite been pretty poor most games. Then the luck turned, along with his head , and it was all the way down the table

Bizarre we are speaking about Walsall as if they have won the league already. Yes they are in a great position and would be stupid not to back them but, it’s football, just over halfway through the season and many teams strengthening their squads. Anything can happen. We lost 1-5 at the end of January to Stockport and look what happened.
-
Yep, anything can happen. It happened to us in the Championship years ago. Forest Green nearly missed out after having a big lead in Feb a few years ago.
Time will tell

Possibly losing another player to Wycombe too, 2 bids currently rejected. Wycombe manager linked with a move to Luton, so could they potentially put a bid in while the window is still open!
-
A few years ago I had backed Wycombe to win league 1 and they were well in front of everyone at this time of year but then they sold Nathan Tyson to Forest and fell away badly

Difference with Jellis is that there's loads left on his contract. We had no control over Lowe. We'll keep turning bids down until there's a daft offer we can't refuse. Even though we don't need the cash and have big debts like a lot of clubs.
He's very replaceable, especially with cash to spend.

True. But we could average relegation form and still get promoted automatically, as it stands, as everyone else is taking points from each other, as it's such an open league this year.
If we hold onto our defenders, we'll be fine, as we don't concede many. And even if the goals dry up for the forwards, we still score enough from set pieces to scrape games 1-0.
-
Forget Walsall they're as good as up now.
-
I thought Jellis was their best player against us and would be a bigger loss than Lowe

Walsall will be fine. They've got an ethic that runs through the team where the basic standards are above anyone else's at this stage, and their league position shows that.
Contrast that to us, for all the talent we give the opposition too many free hits with sloppiness, too many unforced errors which the opposition feed off. Our game management has been poor.
Walsall won't allow those standards to drop, even without Lowe chances will come as they force their opposition into mistakes.
-
Said with the same confidence that put Rovers out of the league at this point last season? There is half a season to go yet, nothing, as we all know now, is certain at this stage.
-
SO Walsall play Mk DONS who have been flashing the cash then they are away to Bradford so No Gimmes there . Lets see how may points they get from them.
Amazingly MK Dons have played 14 home matches and only 9 Away ,,,
Perhaps the rain (waterlogged pitches ?) follows them on their travels
which means believe it or they only have 9 home matches to come yet 14 Away so logically their chance of making the playoffs is a lot harder than one would think.
Talking of Raine reminds me of David Raine a tidy little footballer with black hair and smart appearance. - after 60+ years i find out he cost us £2,000 (not a lot of us will know that) and he still seems to be alive aged 87 !!

This sort of constructive dialogue is really worthwhile and it would be good if it could happen more often. Thanks for your insight Saddlesore. Is there a way that it could be achieved without having to register on 23 club discussion boards I wonder?
The predecessor of iFollow (iPlayer?) allowed access to all similar club platforms and you could hear manager’s interviews and watch their highlights without trawling through YouTube. On the old BBC 606 which ran across all clubs, it was easy to comment on the threads of any club because the format allowed access to all club boards using just one registration. Thereby, you could get an idea of the opposition point of view and sometimes at least, it added to the objectivity of the contributions, but it always made you better informed to comment.

footballforums.net was a good site back in the day but dont think its as popular these day, had forums for each league.

Thanks - I agree that it does not look much used; the great advantage of BBC606 was that you could so easily dip in and out of other clubs' chats just for information as well as contributing. There is JA606 of course with a similar format to the BBC predecessor and although Rovers' site there is still going, it is one of very few in the lower leagues and far less active than the BBC predecessor.

and the answer is 3 out of 6 conceding 5 goals in 2 games - at least they "should" do better at home to Fleetwood defence wise than they did in their first match against em
their defence is Cullenderic at the moment

at least he got the bit right about holding on to "our defenders" in what became a cullenderic defence .... Holy Mackerel
Their goalkeeper certainly made his mark ( on Josh Martin to be exact)

Worth a sneaky load bid next season

Due to be loaned out to a league 1 side for 25/26 season.

Or until Stoke change their manager, Stoke City should be a lot higher with the money/backing they’ve got

This thread has not aged well for Saddlesore has it? His comments on this thread have proven he knew nothing about the direction of travel Walsall were toembark upon! LOL!

I was totally neutral regarding Walsall fans up to Christmas but the arrogance of them at that point makes me think karma lol
-
He was sort of right.
It wasnt the blow we were hoping for, it was way better!

Stoke city fans page on facebook. Couple of comments saying Bradford are in for him. And a couple of comments stating he should come here and learn from Billy! Nothing concrete just comments from Stoke fans.

To be fair, he wasn’t arrogant and didn’t really gloat. Seemed a lot more level headed than the goons on Twitter and provided a decent insight.
Bet he’s still scratching his head at this point.
