Title: Sky
Post by: scawsby steve on February 03, 2025, 06:58:56 pm
Not broadcasting our game at Chessie. That's just ruined my whole f*cking week.

I've been looking forward to it for ages. I'm bloody fuming.

I thought all midweek games were available for purchase and available to overseas supporters with the right subscription.

I'd get a firestick or a VPN, but being a technophobe I don't know the first thing about them.

Some people say they're good, others say they're crap and buffer all the time.

Does it have to be an ‘unofficial’ fire stick?

Someone on here has just e-mailed me about something called an "Express VPN".

Anybody?

A firestick is licenced by Amazon, it’s legal and you can watch through apps such as Now TV, Amazon Prime, BBC iplayer etc on there. You won’t be able to watch a game that isn’t through a standard broadcast platform.

It’s possible, though, to get a dodgy firestick and through that you can access any stream that’s being broadcast somewhere in the world (including the Saturday 3PMs that are broadcast through ifollow). This is illegal.

You can also use a vpn to fake your location. Given anyone outside the UK can pay to watch ifollow for Rovers fixtures you can set your vpn to somewhere overseas, buy the ifollow pass and watch the game.

I suppose this is somewhere in their contract with Sky yet it makes no sense, so I blame Sky for not anticipating this situation. No one would lose if they broadcasted it. Screening any midweek game cannot significantly reduce attendances and that principle surely applies equally to rearranged ones. I fume too ss!

Not the stick that's dodgy, even the apps they use are legit, it's the way they're used which is illegal.

However, it's often the distributors of the stream they go for rather than Joe Public.

I’m thinking I might try to watch the full match replay on rovers + on the Friday morning, without looking at the score on Thursday night. But how to log in and watch without seeing the score!?!

That comment reminds me of The Likely Lads.

It was such a funny ending to a great episode.

I remember donkeys' years back, mate, when England were playing Italy away, when all you got for away internationals were highlights. I avoided the result all day, staying in the house, and not putting the tele or the radio on.

I thought I'd cracked it, then when the programme came on, instead of going straight into the game, they introduced the panel of guests, which were Jack Charlton, Paddy Crerand, and Joe Mercer.

They were all scowling, with faces like f*cking smacked arses. I knew then that we'd been well beaten. Completely ruined it for me. I was fuming.

Though I have bought a season membership to watch all games on Rovers Plauer we have a firestick and c an confirm that I can get all Rovers  games using that  too ( I live on Belgium but the firestick was bought in U.K.)
In addition to Rovers  I can watch all games played in U.K. , Ireland  and rest of Europe .I shall no doubt follow Queen’s Park from time to time now ,

Back in the eighties, the pub I ran in London had a TV above the door. There was a big crowd waiting for the highlights of that night's cup game between Arsenal and Tottenham. Every time the door opened there were cries of "Don't tell us the score". All went well until some numpty came in and said "There wasn't any score". Cue mass exodus. Cost me a lot of business that bloke!

I have emailed Gavin to see if someone could nudge Sky into showing the match on Sky Sports+.
Awaiting a reply.

On this theory the match vs Morecambe won’t be on as this is a rearranged match and I’m nearly sure the others fixtures that day are rearranged as I’ve got mates going to the Mansfield vs Imps on original tickets
