If you have the transaction on your phone or bank statement then you have the evidence of payment. If they have a website send them a screenshot.

if it's from a private car parking firm it's an invoice only, only council can force payment...

I used the just park app, because the game went into E.T and penalties, i overstayed in my parking slot by 13 minutes and received a £60 fine, apparently I could have adjusted my parking time on the app.

Google dealing with private car park firms. There's shedloads about what they get up to and what to do. But the basic rule is if it is not the police or a local Council, ignore 'em.

I parked at a church car park, they weren’t very forgiving.

Yep happened to me I paid for my parking using the Just Park app then got a letter last week claiming I hadn’t paid to park there. I have appealed the decision and sent a screen shot from the just parking app which proves I paid to park there.

Good to know you can extend your stay on Just Park on the night- just in case we are celebrating long into tonight!

I used the Asda at Hull for the recent cup game and it was £2.50 to stay there, whether it was for two, hours or all day so I booked enough time to make sure it covered the extra time, pens and a short walk back after the game.
The Chesterfield Asda is the same deal and only a short walk from the stadium.

Don't ignore it. This is outdated advice, they can take you to court and will likely win which will cost more than paying the fine. When you park on private property and there is signage you agree to the terms on the sign by parking there.

With the OP you can likely appeal on the parking companies website, if you have evidence then you'll be fine.

Also, for anyone ever parking in a car park that's operated by an organisation that's in the BPA they should usually offer a 10 minute grace period before you're fined. You can Google who is in it and whether they should be included, I parked in the one at Travelodge, Lakeside and received a fine for being 6 mins late and appealed which they canceled the fine.

I got a letter from a BPA registered company in Cornwall a couple of years back after I was 8 minutes late leaving the car park and was ok after I pointed that out to them.
