Title: Bob Dylan
Post by: scawsby steve on February 14, 2025, 07:51:32 pm
I can't wait to see the movie. I've seen the trailers, and Timothee Chalomet is superb, not only looking like him, but singing and playing like him.

Apparently Bob himself has endorsed the film. The only thing I find strange after reading the reviews is that Suze Rittolo has a fictional name in the film. Maybe something to do with her family.

Raven?

Yes seen it already SS, Chalamet makes a good fist of it.
But and it's a big but they've tried to condense 1960 to 1965 into just over 2hours. It's very muddled with songs and events taken out of sequence.
If you are not an avid fan then yes you'll probably enjoy it but to me no thanks..
All the action takes place in USA, the break up with Joan again so tragically shown in real life in Don't Look Back, is shown as Joan telling Bob to go, even the infamous Judas shout at Manchester in 66 is taken out of context and set at Newport 65 when he "went" electric instead..
Regarding Suze maybe the family but Bob was so in love with her maybe he wanted it changing he was distraught when she died, and don't forget she left him to go to Italy in 64
Edward Norton does a very good attempt at Pete Seeger but others are pretty poor characterisations.
If anyone seeing it doesn't know any of the actual story then they will probably enjoy it as piece of entertainment
