Title: Early Goals
Post by: RoversInSpain on March 02, 2025, 05:41:31 pm
A habit we’ve developed in the last 3 games, a habit I like a lot.
Against Morcambe and Accrington we’ve got off to a flyer. Yesterday a very very early goal albeit in the second half.
It got me wondering, if our excellent stato’s  know of Rovers’ quickest ever goals in the 1st and 2nd half of a match.

That second half early goal was very important giving us a bit of a cushion but also addresses our weakest 15 minute segment of games (between 45 & 60) when we've conceded the most goals than any other segment of the game by some distance.

Looking forward to hearing from the stattos and seeing where Sir James Hayters famous goal ranks.

I entered the main stand terrace at BV through the turnstile nearest the Rosso end, just as the game kicked off.  We were attacking the town end, so I made my way towards there, and by the time I got there it was 2-1.  The game we beat Reading 7-5.

I could be wrong in the timings, this being over 42 years ago..

Didn’t Alfie May open the scoring on New Year’s Day 2019 after about 50 seconds?  We won 5-0 and Wilkes tore them a new one all game.

Sure Eddie Gormley scored after around 17 seconds (think a Tuesday night) in around 92/93

V Rochdale and I think 4 or maybe 5 Rochdale players got booked for fouling Wilkes who was unplayable.

I know it was 3-1 after 10 minutes.
