Post by: Drover on March 05, 2025, 09:48:48 pm
Not watching it,but from stats and comments,it's looks like similar to our game last night,PSG dominating but unable to score,Liverpool 1 shot on target and winning 1-0  :woot:

No, just 27, 9 on target compared to our 8. Uncanny similarities. Two on target for Liverpool. Goes to show these things happen.

Doesn’t anyone count blocked shots which are on target?
The stats that bbc and sky use only count shots saved by the keeper as shots on target.

FotMob have blocked shot, not sure if that differentiates between on target or not.

Cheers DO.
Rovers had plenty of shots blocked the other night and lots of them looked to be on target.

Liverpool have to thank their keeper Alison for that result, he was absolutely brilliant and one of the best games I’ve ever seen from any keeper.
It seemed like the tactics were to sit back from psg, they were giving them so much room, and let Alison deal with any shots.
However he dealt with shots where he would only have seen late, so total performance from him.

I’m not sure the tactics were to “sit back”, I just think PSG were so good at passing the ball, so quick into challenges, great movement off the ball and pressing the Liverpool players, that they had no choice but to sit back. The anfield game should be interesting to see if Liverpool play any differently and on the front foot. Proper daylight robbery from Liverpool and great goalkeeping by Allison

Not always easy to be certain if a blocked shot was on target particularly those where the block is made close to the striker so the only ones to be relied on are saves by the keeper and - should be - goal-line blocks.

Agree, should be held up to all young keepers as a goalkeeping masterclass. Also showed that there doesn’t need to be a trade off between distribution skills and pure, basic goalkeeping attributes. Great keepers have both!

As Slot says they were  very very lucky. But 2nd half all the shots were from outside the box so defence tightened up.
However take nothing away from him Becker was outstanding
