And I’m never one to complain about staff doing their jobs. However, today I was dashing around and forgot to pick up my membership card. Yes I understand this is my fault. I then realised once I’d got to the stadium and went to the ticket office to explain. This is where I got really annoyed. Apparently they were unable to duplicate tickets as the south was sold out. Call me stupid but…. Surely all they had to do was check my account and ID and let me in. Nope. I was greeted with nothing but attitude and was told to go home and get it or buy a ticket for another stand. I then went and spoke to the stewards on the turnstiles who were far more helpful. They walked me to the ticket office to then be greeted again by another member of staff with a major attitude problem who even said “would you go to the cinema without a ticket?” And told the lady trying to help me that she would be reported if she let me in. I then remembered I sent my mum a screenshot when I got my card through the post and luckily it scanned through. The staff at times and not all of them I might add are a disgrace in my opinion. We are trying to be a proper family run club here are we not???
As for the catering….. why can’t they just pull a few pints ready for HT. The queues are massive and people are having to rush their food and drinks to make the kick off. Can they not be more proactive?

Ridiculous they couldnt just print you out the QR code they scan on the front of the membership card.
-
In the past didn’t you have to buy another ticket and then reclaim the money from the club.
-
Recently my mate forgot his season ticket, ticket office just printed him a new one..
-
To be honest I think going forward we should be looking at digital season tickets for this exact problem. I’d quite happily scan it from my phone each game.

Don't understand why it is not an option to download it and keep it in a digital wallet on your phone

I was told as the south was sold out that they can’t duplicate tickets Adam. Again I understand that. What I don’t understand is that my name and photograph IS on their system and that normal human error isn’t accounted for by the club. So basically if you make a genuine mistake you are paying again or going home. I find it a complete farce for our home support. If anybody within the club can see this I would appreciate it if this is raised. There has to be a plan B for literally anybody who has paid for a ticket for a game. I can’t be and won’t be the only person it has ever happened to.

Regarding the catering, I've used it twice, mainly for coffee as I usually drive to games. Both times they can't even present a hot cup of coffee, it's poor. I for one have no intention of using the facilities again.

I had a brisket pie with mushy peas and gravy in the Belle Vue Bar.
I don’t usually eat at the ground but really enjoyed this.

I was in the BVB before kick off & looking through my wallet thought ‘s**t, I’ve left my season ticket (card) at home (70 miles away). My brother said ‘Go round to the ticket office, tell them who you are & that you’ve mislaid your season ticket & I reckon they’ll print you one off.’ So I did.
And they couldn’t have been more understanding. One of the girls asked me my name & which stand I sit in & said “I’ll print you one off love.”

Your experience is in total contrast to that of Usher Wide, for the same issue on the same day.
I can only speak from my experience of the ticket office staff and they have always been brilliant.
-
I keep mine in the car for that very reason
-
given when you buy a ticket you get a pdf on your phone it can't be that hard to do the same for season tickets.....
-
Your post reminds me of an issue I wanted to bring up again…
The south stand was ‘sold out’ which is becoming a fairly regular thing. However from my position in the east the south stand didn’t appear to be any more than about three quarters full.
I find it difficult to believe that the empty seats can be explained by season ticket holders who haven’t turned up. If it’s the buffer thing then the buffer is clearly too big!
In which case isn’t the club shooting itself in the foot saying it’s full when there are hundreds of spare seats?
-
Yes I have noticed the very same the past few home games. South Stand apparently sold out when nowhere near. If you went on the ticket site yesterday about 10am whole south was greyed out and unavailable. Other games recently it's about 90% unavailable.
Yet when you're in there it's nowhere near full. Those gaps aren't season ticket holders who didn't turn up
Same will happen on Tuesday guarantee it

Because of the unreserved seating the capacity is reduced. I think it should be put back to reserved seating.

We'd lose a lot more benefits than what we'd gain. The same benefits of allowing folk to group together as is usually the case at away matches.
The ticket office are generally very good at managing the "buffer' as we have seen on many occasions in the past when the South Stand is bouncing.
We don't know if there were any paricular issues for this game, although I do wonder if the club being fined played a part in being more stringent with the buffer. Probably an issue for the Shadow Board to discuss.
What is for sure, is the club cannot predict the number of season members who fail to attend.
-
Wasn't reduced for Palace. Barrow or Crewe last year. Someone at the club with an agenda against the unreserved nature of the stand trying to make out there's issues?
-
The seat numbers are all over the place in the south stand now. They’d all need sorting before going back to allocated.

It was reduced for those games.
Another possible factor is fans more densely grouped around the upper central area around the drummer which may give the appearance of empty seats in the wider areas.
Of course that doesn't help the OP. As others have said, reasonable proof of purchase should result in the club providing him with the means of entry as has been done in other cases.
I doubt very much anyone has an agenda but safety will always be the major consideration. It doesn't need a sledgehammer to crack a nut but ongoing discussions with us ascfans to manage these issues.
