Evening all

Decent start but a needless, and deserved, booking for George isn’t helpful

Evening chaps. Been a nice day in Gloucestershire. Mind you a minor service and MoT cost me 480 quid which rather dampened things a tad!

That was shit from TSL
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall
Post by: Peebles Rover on April 01, 2025, 08:05:24 pm
More the defending, allowed to go 40 yards and get a cross in
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall
Post by: dknward2 on April 01, 2025, 08:10:46 pm
Both tbh nobody dare put a foot in with the ref giving Walsall a foul for every tackle then TSL dives after the ball crossed the line
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall
Post by: ForsolongaRover on April 01, 2025, 08:20:25 pm
That was shit from TSL
It was excellently well-placed and he dived full length. TSL couldn’t have done better. Credit to the scorer and a pity as Sterry let him get the wrong side of him.
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall
Post by: Plumbster on April 01, 2025, 08:22:04 pm
Both goals were very well worked- disappointing for us that Gibson lost possession cheaply and neither Senior or Wood could stop the cross- first impression was that TSL didn’t have much chance.
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall
Post by: Dutch Uncle on April 01, 2025, 08:22:52 pm
Walsall look dangerous going forward, especially down our left
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall

Port Vale 1 up against the Bantams after 11 mins.

Port Vale now 2 up.
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall
Post by: jmt23 on April 01, 2025, 08:24:23 pm
Good lord I’ve read some sh.. on here but to blame TSL for that? The defence is getting pulled all over and can’t cope with their movement pace or strength.
We are playing very direct and need to play football, when we do we open them up.

I also think Moly is having a bit of a shocker so far, barring the great shot, everything so far has been poor.
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall
Post by: Copps is Magic on April 01, 2025, 08:32:07 pm
A season defining second half. Do we want to be a team dribiling to the play-offs, or a team taking the title by the ballsack? Both options are in our hands.
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall
Post by: Peebles Rover on April 01, 2025, 08:34:30 pm
Very even first half. Hope we go on to sneak it
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall
Post by: ScillyRover on April 01, 2025, 08:35:02 pm
HT. Two decent sides. Some nice moves from both teams. Rovers just lacking bite in the final third. I’d like to see Kelly and Billy on for at least 30 mins of second half.
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall
Post by: Scooter on April 01, 2025, 08:36:43 pm
I’d get PK on for Sbarra. PK drives us forward
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall
Post by: steve@dcfd on April 01, 2025, 08:37:15 pm
TSL was not to blame for their goal it started in midfield when Sbarra does nothing in there to stop the ball or player then out wide good cross and header. I don’t what Sbarra gives to the side. Get Clifton or Kelly  on and I would also get Sharpe on.
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall
Post by: Cramby10 on April 01, 2025, 08:38:27 pm

definitely. may as well get 11 men on the pitch.
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall
Post by: Copps is Magic on April 01, 2025, 08:39:14 pm
Sbarra has been awful, sorry.

One pass all season at Hull. How he gets a game otherwise is a mystery.
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall
Post by: Bristol Red Rover on April 01, 2025, 08:43:57 pm
As identified on the commentary, Sbarra does get into good positions to keep play moving around the final quarter. Just not that successful with what he does with it.

Molly being pressed, Sterry not that focused. Their 19, Charlton loanee, is very dangerous.
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall
Post by: jmt23 on April 01, 2025, 08:45:26 pm
Sbarra has been pretty poor but he wasn’t at fault for the goal, it was Gibson, and I can tell you Mcann was not happy with his half hearted run to get the ball back.
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall
Post by: ForsolongaRover on April 01, 2025, 08:50:24 pm
Senior seems to confine himself to safe sideways and backwards passing. He is a wingback or just a back-and-further-back who didn't try to even get close to the player who crossed the ball for their equaliser?
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall
Post by: ScillyRover on April 01, 2025, 08:56:59 pm
Senior a bit rash with the tackles as usual
Title: Re: Rovers v Walsall
Post by: goalkick on April 01, 2025, 08:57:49 pm
Must agree about senior with his backward play, seems unsure what to do at times.

If Gibson and Sbarra continue to turn the ball over so easily they have got to be changed- it is stopping us build any momentum

Clifton’s first touch is Sunday league but at least he plays a percentage ball into space rather than a safe ball down a dead end

Probably not much better. But we never seem to get a head of steam and control the game. It’s all so slow and ponderous. I mean I would obviously like us to sneak a goa!

Season ticket holders are included whether they turn up or not and remember half term round here so even less than normal. The ticket office can't help it  X number of season ticket holders. Y number of of seats lost due to unallocated = Z left on general sale

We need a run of wins if we want a top three finish, starting with Cheltenham on Saturday.
