2 shots, 1 on target. Decent start. Walsall 1 PV1 after 11 minutes!

Scrappy game so far.
Billy and Gibbo both put shots into Row Z when they should have done better.
Plenty of sloppy mistakes by both sides.
As usual, Moly is looking our greatest threat.

Blimey this is poor.

We badly need somebody who can put their foot on the ball and control the midfield. I don’t think we’ve had more than ten seconds of continuous possession!

This is again so slow paced and flat, we don’t seem to have any spark in us at all, and haven’t all season, we are consistent steady Eddie’s, and that may be enough to get the job done, it’s not great to watch though

As usual it just looks like Luke, Bailey and Sterry belong in a promotion side. TSL has looked solid enough.

Well that was boring.

I’m sure I saw somebody doing their knitting. I think it was Cheltenham’s number 6.

The midfield are poor yet again Kelly no better than Sbarra. No flow to the game Gibson wasting the ball all the time. We don’t look like a side going for promotion this is poor.
Title: Re: Cheltenham v DRFC
Post by: Lesonthewest on April 05, 2025, 01:23:15 pm
Could have nodded off there, it's like a pre-season friendly. Powder puff. Lack urgency & passing ability. Awful first half.
Title: Re: Cheltenham v DRFC
Post by: ForsolongaRover on April 05, 2025, 01:23:39 pm
To be fair there’s more effort than we’ve seen sometimes. Cheltenham are not a bad side by L2 standards. Sharp is doing a good deal all over the pitch and Senior (who I’ve criticised for lack of involvement in the past) is getting over the half way line and combining with Gibson in attack.

The cliche “fine margins” is apposite. Expecting us to absolutely dominate a mid table team is unrealistic.

May as well sacrifice the number 10 as nobody is playing well in it. I'd go two up top second half.

The other option is put Gibson in there.

Yep. A general lack of application. Too careless at times. We need to do the basics instead of players doing their own thing and hoping something comes off.

I doubt he'll make subs but give them a good wake up call at HT.

Got to agree with this.
Molyneux. Is having a great game.

At the game and it's indicative of the season.    I feel sorry for our forwards.   No matter who it is the service to them is shocking and they spend all their time deep and working their b*llocks off.

If we don’t get promotion at the end of such a slog of a season it’s going to be incredibly disappointing. The usual turgid, uninspired fayre. Hopefully a rollicking at half time might inject a bit of purpose.

At least the weather is nice

And the young drunken lad has given us some entertainment. He was annoying at the start then shortly afterwards sat with his head in his hands. Took himself to the toilet and needed assistance from the stewards and police. I don’t know what happened to him but he has come all this way and seen 5 minutes of football

Not too sure about that, if you consider yourselves potential champions then mid table sides should be  under a LOT of pressure, as it is they aren't and maybe Rovers are a play off contender at this rate. Second half may bring some joy with a change in attitude/tactics from GM.

Agree we should have killed it off long before we did, controlled the game mostly. But I massively thought we were gonna have another of those days.

7pts from 3 is good, can't grumble.

Quit your whining, 3 points at this point in the season is all that matters!

Crewe had a penalty saved. Penalty? What’s them, you may well ask!

Second half - Crewe hit the post!

What a time for Jamie Sterry to finally get his first goal!

Sorry dutch but that wasnt the miss of the season. Billy has missed worse.
But it doesnt matter aslong has we go ip

2-0 flattered us but I don’t care.

Not sure it did flatter us actually - yes the goals were late but there was the stonewall penalty not given, hit post with keeper beaten, Ironside miss of the season

We had 18 shots today.
Six saved, six blocked and one that hit the post.
TSL only had to make one save.
How is that not a dominant performance?
We definitely deserved the win.

Thing is, as uninspiring as this all sounds, should we nick a winner and Port Vale beat Walsall, we would be 3 points off top spot with a game in hand by the end of today’s fixtures..
