Title: Brothers
Post by: Branton Rover on April 06, 2025, 08:12:28 pm
How many sets of brothers have played for us?

I’ve got;

1 - the Keetley brothers
2 - Steve & Dave Wignall
3 - Glenn Humphries and Steve Humphries
4 - Glynn and Ian Snodin
5 - Darren & David Esdaille
6 - Steve and Neil Roberts

There must be more I’ve missed

Didn't Kyle Bennett's brother Gordon also play for Rovers?

I often heard his name during games.

I'm too lazy to google but that must be a decent bet.

Chamberlain? We had a Chamberlain playing for us - early 80's? -  who had a brother who played top level footer. I think he played for England. Just on the off chance, were they ever on opposite sides?

Mark Chamberlain was an England international (and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's dad). Didn't know this but his brother Neville (wonder who he was named after?) played for us in 1987/88. Unlikely that he played against Mark (at least with us), as he was at Sheffield Wednesday that season.

Neville played for us and his brother Mark played higher up the chain. Not sure they will have played in the same division though so possibly unlikely that they played against each other in a competitive professional game.
I remember saying to my son after we won our first game of the season and Neville scored. “Well that is three points away from relegation”.
We did then go down that season.
