Title: Yesterday’s red card
Post by: Filo on April 19, 2025, 08:06:01 am
Got say I’d be fuming if that was against us, ridiculous decision by the ref

Yeah proper comedy. Another example of a referee wanting his moment. Looks like Bailey and Crew both asked ref not to send him off.

Rules are rules ultimately. Stupid rule.

Only what mcann got sent off for at tranmere.
People always go on about lack of consistency with refs, but in this instance, there was consistency.

I've watched it back this morning.

The ball isn't going to hit Crosby in the face, but it's not too far off, and he just deflects it away. The ball is going in the stand anyway. Yes he's frustrated, yes it's petulant. Is it going to delay a restart? Not really.

Quite harsh from the ref.

Grant was sent off last year in a game against Tranmere for something similar. You’d have thought both Grant and Crosby knew this

All the managers were advised before the season started that they can't do anything with the ball when it leaves the field of play which could be perceived to delay the restart of the game. In Crosby's defence, he wasn't the manager then.

The ref yesterday was far better than the majority we have had this season.

Thought ref was really good yesterday and like others have said it’s exactly what Grant got sent off for last season

It is a very low bar though isn’t it.

Good refs come along like penalties - 2 all season, so far!

Crazy decision to me. He wasn't paying attention to the game when the ball came in his direction. Was he expected to catch it, avoid it? It wasn't a clear, deliberate action to delay the game.

Being a ref is not easy and a key decision is likely to frustrate one set of fans.

Having said the above, I did think in the main the ref did well.

im sorry but there is sumthing wrong if your the manager and not paying attention to the game,he knew exactly what he was doing although I don’t think it would have any impact on a quick throw in being taken but he knew the laws and should of just moved out the way

I couldn’t disagree more- it was a very obvious decision to punch the ball away from play, and something he didn’t need to do.

These ex players can’t help themselves. I mentioned yesterday Arteta started this with his running to the edge of his area to prevent thowins, disguised as urgent coaching. Karl Robinson did it last week against PK and only got a yellow, should’ve been red.

Petulant disregard for the rules. F$$k em

I wonder if there had been something else before, eg something said to 4th official, that had made the ref feel enough was enough? Either way, I think its jobsworth.

I attended both games at Tranmere where the ref sent the manager off, the difference was that our manager won both games.

no nothing was said and it’s in the laws of the game end of whether you think he is a jobs worth or not,if he hadn’t of sent him of he isn’t doing is job correct,he didn’t bring the law in and I think grant would pherhaps of thought that from last season aswell if he hadn’t of sent him off
