Title: EFL clubs released/retained lists
Post by: MachoMadness on May 07, 2025, 12:47:59 am
As we can start silly season earlier this year with no play-offs to worry about, thought I'd post the links to the EFL released/retained lists. Not many clubs have announced theirs at time of posting but these will be updated over the coming days, so keep checking back if close season fever is getting to you.

https://therealefl.co.uk/2025/05/05/championship-retained-lists-2024-25/
https://therealefl.co.uk/2025/05/05/league-one-retained-lists-2024-25/
https://therealefl.co.uk/2025/05/05/league-two-retained-lists-2024-25/

Imagine most of our summer signings will appear on this list at some point so worth keeping an eye on.

Of the early names, Max Dyche at Northampton could be a decent young option if Olowu ends up leaving. Broke into their first team towards the end of the season and has the physical attributes you need to succeed at CB - as you'd expect given his dad is Sean Dyche.

Thanks MM, that’s really useful.

Josh Koroma goal scoring left winger released by Huddersfield wow!
He’d score for fun in a McCann team. That would be a statement signing but could be in too high a wage.

I did wonder if he’d get released. Fell out of favour at Bolton but McCann played him rotating with Matt Ingram in the Championship.

I think Baxter’s a pretty nailed on signing.

That's a good shout. My Hudds supporting mate at work says he's talented but his attitude is all over the place. The sort of player McCann has got the best out of in the past.

Bayley McCann out of contract at Barnsley...

Also Christy Pym released by Mansfield. Solid option for a more experienced keeper there.

On 22 October 2021, following the sudden departure of Antoni Sarcevic to Stockport County, Santos was appointed by manager Ian Evatt as Bolton's new captain.[18] He was named in the Team of the Year for the second consecutive year, this time in League One, for the 2021–22 season.[19] On 26 May 2022, Santos signed a new three-year deal with Bolton Wanderers which would keep him at the club until 2025.[20]

On 11 February 2023, Santos scored his first goals for Bolton with a brace in a 5–0 win at his former team Peterborough United, Bolton's 5000th league game.[21] On 2 April, he started in the 2023 EFL Trophy final which Bolton won 4–0 against Plymouth Argyle.[22] He was named in both the EFL[23] and PFA[24] Teams of the Season for the 2022–23 season, the third season in a row he had been named in Teams of the Year. A year later, he was named in the PFA Team of the Year again, his fourth consecutive appearance.[25] On 21 September 2024, Santos was replaced as captain  that pratt EVATT by George Thomason.[26] On 7 May 2025, the club confirmed that Santos would leave at the end of his contract after five years with them.[27]

I REMEMBER HIM GETTING INJURED -  6 FOOT 5 39 IN JUNE   INJURED ?? FROM JAN 18TH TO APRIL ??

Cameron Humphreys and Hakeem Odoffin both out of contract at Rotherham. Probably out of our reach but definitely the profile I'd be looking at to strengthen us - shows there will be some quality players available this summer, as ever.

Maybe a quiet word with Spurs for Matthew Craig or even sign him properly may be an idea as he didnt do much at Barnsley or Mansfield

He’s done I think. Only started 5 games all season and managed 90 minutes once.

Perhaps it's a bit negative to say this, but I suspect that if someone is sufficiently well known for us to know about him, he will be on the radar of numerous clubs. I wonder how many of Grant's signings were players that we knew of in advance. So l suggest that the shrewdest recruiters go for those who are less likely to be prominently visible. Did anyone forecast our first new signing for example?

It was in the media about a month ago that we, among others, were chasing his signature.

My lads watch the 'Baller League' a few weeks ago and Kaz Sterling was one of the big stars of that, he's definitely built his profile up from there so thought he might have got himself a move.

He’s back with the PFA group again this week, which also includes former Rovers’ Tyreece John-Jules, Kazenga Lua-Lua and James Brown.

He could've made something of himself if he stopped being greedy, both us and Salford offered him a contract and he turns it down because he thinks he can do better.

The money he has lost compared to what will get now is just madness on his behalf or his agent who ever decides where and who he signs for
