Next goal wins - true playground stuff.!
-
Did I hear the commentator refer to Tim Ryan as Cross?
-
Very clever handball from Stein for their first.
The cheating get.
Mind you without it there would be no Sir Francis day.
-
Happy memories!!!
-
I was sat about 10 yards to the left of that goal where Greeny scored, that was a cracking day.
-
Did I hear the commentator refer to Tim Ryan as Cross?
Yeah, twice!
Great memories, great day.

Good video - ruined only by sighting that terrible Mickey Walker.....

What happy memories, I spent with loved ones no longer around. :rtid:
-
I remember it taking a couple of seconds to register that the match was over with that goal and we were up!
-
Yes, I remember that too. The euphoria of actually winning the game, but then the dawning of what it actually meant. Quite a few with hands on heads. OMG, we're back in the Football League!!!
-
First time I cried over a football match.
-
For May, it was bloody cold.
-
Just remembered John Terry throwing sandwiches at our car on the approach to the stadium.
We were giving him plenty of stick like.
-
Got some grass from the pitch taped to a piece of paper somewhere in the attic haha. Makes me feel old seeing it was 22 years ago and I’m only 35!
-
For May, it was bloody cold.
It was indeed, I went in short sleeves, and was freezing second half
-
The reality of what happened didn’t sink for a few seconds, then like others I had tears.
I had spent the Friday night watching dvds, videos of Rovers matches and “ that documentary “ must have had 10 cans of lager and a dozen cigarettes as well to get me even more focused

I get that some people don't like Walker doing commentary or talking about Rovers, but if the dislike is more than that I don't get it. His exhaustive football knowledge largely put that side together. He is a legendary figure at Rovers in my eyes.
-
Being so far away the only way I could follow the game was by live text. I can still remember the torture as the word GOAL flashed up, followed 30 agonising seconds later by DONCASTER. The world stopped and I'm sure my heart did at that moment. :rtid:
-
Pitch invasions, streaker, pies being thrown at Dagenham keeper, riot at full time. Had it all.
-
Not sure about a riot??

Yeah, seems very harsh doesn’t it, unless he’s done something bad that few of us are aware of. Yes he’s a bit of a gobshite on the radio but he was heavily involved in one of the most successful spells of our history. He obviously offered something!
-
He’s a bit of a throw back in football terms a real Barry Fry type.
I actually don’t mind him and don’t know why people have this hate for him, I think there was a fall out when he didnt get the managers job.
-
All these years later I still wonder what Paul Barnes was saying to Sir Francis when he put his hands on either side of his head to get him to look at him and listen. I assume a great Churchillian one liner about the significance of what he’d just done.
-
Some people have the weirdest of reasons why they don’t like MW.
He isn’t the best football pundit is he but he does still love the Rovers and did contribute quite a lot to getting us back into the leagues.
-
For May, it was bloody cold.
It was wasn’t it?
Remember JR selling shirts in the bar before the game. The game was great. As usual, we made it stressful but then SFT with THAT goal.
Next up… opening day at Leyton Orient in blistering heat and LFW

Ah 1st game back at Leyton Orient, one of my favourite ever away days!
-
Well done to everyone above for NOT using the incorrect G*****n Goal to describe our winner
My work here is done  :scarf:
-
I remember we had been sat in the stands drinking Calsberg from plastic bottles all second half because apparently the Stoke concourse bar staff just kept on serving and the Stewards were letting people take them back to their seats. When SFT scored I went down about 5 rows of seats on my back.

The cheap pub we were ushered into quite early and then herded onto a bus back to the stadium what an atmosphere and as previously mentioned bleeding cold
