Another of my legends gone RIP
-
I remember a night match at BV Alick let fly from about 30 yards the goalkeeper saved it but the poeer flattened him, Chris was on the follow uo and tapped into an empty net
A very underated player in his time with us IMHO
-
Part of a title winning team of Div 4 back in the day. RIP.
-
Clish and Rabjohn came in from Rotherham in a swamp for Graham Watson I think. Chris was a consistently reliable wing half
-
Harold Wilcockson was also part of the deal I think. :chair:
-
Currect
Rabjohn Wilcockson and Clish sounded like a firm of lawyers but it was Rovers who should have been done for robbery
What a deal they did there
Was it Graham Watson to Rotherham and we got RWC and some money (fact check) then hot Watsom back later
Robbery but I loved it
-
The deal was Graham Watson and Dennis Leigh in exchange for Clish, Rabjohn, and Wilcockson. We had Rotherham's trousers down.
RIP Chris.
Edit: The Rotherham manager at the time was Tommy Docherty. No wonder he got them relegated with deals like that.

I think I’m right in saying he played the night I saw Rovers for the first time and regularly thereafter. I was too young then to remember anything about him but all of those names I’d see on the programmes at that are absolute Gods to me.
-
Dennis Lee was also part of the deal I think and were two outstanding youngsters for us but the three that came our way including Chris were outstanding that championship year for us.
Chris a cultured half back who would not have been out of place in the modern game. R.I.P. and thanks for the memories.

It was definitely Graham Watson, Brian.

Not only was it a great deal for Rovers, but we also got £8k!
RIP.

as we know they formed a formidable defence

Another player gone from the team that ran out at Belle Vue in their all white kit with red collars & cuffs to the shirt in my ‘formative years’ as a diehard Rovers supporter.
Thanks for the memories Chris. Condolences to your family & friends.
-
Part of the first team I watched my first Donny match. Under floodlights at BV. The smell of piped tobacco & those steep steps in the main stand. Excellent player & one of my dad’s favourite. God bless & deepest condolences to all of Chris’s family and friends.

Totally agree it was a great team with a manager and players that were far better than the old division four.
The players were together on the pitch but also friends off the pitch, with a manager that was respected by all (seems familiar to what’s been said about last season)
-
Chris was my favourite player in that team, until Steve Briggs arrived.
A very cultured midfielder who could deliver a killer pass.
RIP Chris Rabjohn.

Tommy Docherty was obsessed with the necessity to have young players and I doubt whether he gave himself time to objectively assess the 3 we gained from what was a good second division side at the time. In all the time I’ve supported Rovers it was probably the best deal we ever made and the difference they made to the team made us a real pleasure to watch.

And Graham Watson back !
