Fingers crossed for Andy Butler and his team; hoping they secure promotion today and hopefully give Chester a serious hammering.
I've never liked Chester at all and that goes back to our clashes against them before the D&R final. Whitman, McIntyre, Warrington etc.
Mark Wright was a proper @%4ker - only the older contributors will know the back stories !

Horrible ground concrete and breeze blocks. Only one way so took long time to exit ground.
-
I had the catering staff fuming there once.
The menu board read,
Various pies.
Steak pie
Mince pie
meat n potato pie
Chicken balti pie.
So I asked for a various pie, lady behind counter says no its these pies (pointing to the list of pies)
I says, no I just want a various pie please and so it went on a few times and she got proper shirty.
Anyway, the Rovers lads behind me in the queue cottoned on and they started asking for various pies too.
She then belts out "we don't sell f**kin various pies, it's just f**kin pies!"
You obviously had to be there to appreciate this funny scene.

Remember the bricks coming over at us on that long lane out of the Chester ground after Andy Warrington saved their last pen. They were blood and guts games those eh!!
-
Nudger, I'm sat here having a good 'old laugh to myself reading your post.
That humour's right up my street, I love 'owt like that and I'd certainly have been joining in the sarcasm if I'd been there.
I'd love to have seen that lady getting more and more exasperated with you lot asking for a "various pie". Priceless!
-
It's the silly things rover-n-out int it.
This was before the match so everyone in high spirits, apart from the mardy lady behind the counter.

Sounds like the Eco Power to be fair

So I guess then everyone asked for a f**kin pie

Either/or mate, it's only my nickname no bother.

Reading that gave me a fond flashback to the terraces at Belle vue, young lad about 11 or 12 in front of me at the Kiosk, asked the woman "what pies do you have?" , we've only got meat and potatoes ones left , "Can I have a meat one then please?"  Like you say Nugda , it's the small things in life :)

Blood and thunder
66 mins 1-1
-
Can neither of them win haha
-
Extra time, still 1-1.
-
Possibly the worst 90 minutes of football I have watched for many years. Chester worse than Wimbledon for rolling about. Lost count of all the yellow cards and will be amazed if either team finish with 11 men.
-
It's been a horrible game to watch,cannot see it ending 11 v 11

totally agree the standard has been shocking

What channel is it on ?
-
You obviously have never seen the giants from Alfreton then.
-
2-1 Scunny
-
Alfie Beestin subbed off, didn't even realise he was playing!

Not the first time anyone said that, even when he played for us!
-

Dazn
-
Full time! Get in. Well in Butts.
-
132 minutes played the referee loved himself
-
Poor quality game but still a good watch I thought,
Chester players throwing themselves to the floor & ref playing how long? Scunny deserved it.
-
Well done Scunny "Longname" scored the winner I have this funny feeling one day we will loan Ironside to them ????
-
Horrific standard wasn’t it. Just shows the difference in quality even between National League North and L2.
-
The ref was absolutely awful, and he added another 11 minutes on for no particular reason. I don’t know the total of yellow cards that was issued, over a dozen for sure.

Says a lot when League 2 was god awful this season to watch!
-
Over 8000 there supposedly not bad for that level 3rd game in a row with Chester they've smashed their attendance record
-
Some of the crowds in National Leagues are amazing. Oldham v Halifax nearly 11,000.
Mind you considering the absolute borefest of the premiership I’m not surprised people want something different.
-
Be livid conceding goals like that if i was the Chester manager. Still, well deserved for Scunny, they have a job on recruiting for the next step up because the conference is a tough looking league next year. On today's evidence they'll struggle without some big signings.
-
I think it's 3/1 on we loan someone to Scunny
favours work both ways
-
Yep Gaz, Kings Lynn showed us just how bad we were back then, their number 10 got home that night and found Close in his pocket.
-
Well done Scunny, nice to see you on the way back and in good hands now.
A special well done to Andy Butler great to see players that put on our shirt do well in football after retirement and Alfie Beestin who has made the best of what he had to do well in non league football at one of the top levels which is no mean feat.
