Title: Wembley bound
Post by: DonnyAps on May 23, 2025, 02:32:04 pm
Departing to Hitchin, few beers in the sports bar  in the town (good selection of real ales) then Wembley tomorrow with my brother, who is Blades fan. Hoping the Wembley voodoo for SUFC can finally be broken, though they’ll come straight back down.
Back Sunday morning then off to Bramall Lane for Paul Heaton gig. If and its s big if that should be an awesome if they win, with Heaton being a blades fan.

I’m going to PH also. Hope the Blades lose miserably to be honest.

He would probably need a little time to get over it

Win or lose, it'll be a case of carry on regardless

Time to re-connect our brains I think --  in case you hadn't realised Sheff United have been very good to us with loanees if you hadn't noticed  whay was that blokes name beginning with Sh.... amongst others

so it is obviously in our interests they get promotion and join Leeds who loaned us a player to add to our crew

Remember Colemans First Law of sgning a loane

!< Ask (as in the case with Jermain Defoe)

fyou never know who might be loaned to you unless you ask

If I remember correctly,Sheffield United helped us out massively when we dropped out of the league.
Didn’t they sort us out with balls, nets, training kits, etc when we didn’t have a pot to piss in.

They're okay especially compared to Wednesday fans. Don't mind them. Don't care which side wins. Can only imagine a few fringe players become available for loan more likely if Blades go up and geographically we're at an advantage if any

Just interviewed Billy Sharp on the pitch at Wembley wearing his Blades scarf. There to support them with his family in the stands.

I spent 3 years working in Sunderland. Nice people. But hoping Sheff Utd do it today. In fact I’ve got my £££ on them.

Sunderland for me, they'd just be more entertaining to see back in the top flight.

Equally good equaliser.

Blades must be kicking themselves having missed a couple of gilt-edged chances.

Sunderland will survive in the Premiership next season.
Leeds and Burnley will come straight back down.

They'll need a massive rebuild of the squad if that's going to happen.

Is that just wishful thinking, Pancho? Which I thoroughly understand if it is.

However, from what I've seen of Leeds this season, they look a class above Sunderland.

Burnley ought to be able to build on their recent PL experience too.

If you really believe in Sunderland Pancho I should think you’ll get excellent odds on them staying up, possibly even on them finishing above 20th place! Their long-suffering fans will enjoy it I’m sure, whatever the outcome. Where’s Paul Goodwin these days?

The last ‘Jolly Bus’ has just left from the ‘Railway Tavern’ to the ‘toon’ kidda & you’ve missed it. Must have been that last song with ‘The Gailey’s’ that did for us.

As much as I hope it’s Leeds, I fear it’s Sunderland for the drop.

You got it in one Steve, 100% wishful thinking on my part!

Always had a soft spot for Sunderland after living there for a year or so back in my younger days. It was a couple of years after they'd beaten Leeds to win the FA Cup.
Some of the Sunderland players occasionally popped into into the rough little pub where me and my brother used to drink. So we played pool with Tony Towers, Billy Hughes, Bobby Kerr etc.

It will take a miracle for Sunderland to stay up but they'll enjoy their season in the sun!

No-one will ever forget Ian Porterfield.

Despite the result, enjoyable day at Wembley, Sunderland fans good fun both before and after the game. Gig at Bramall Lane brilliant, Ian Brodie apologising before singing Football Coming Home, Paul Heaton was outstanding. Only downer getting soaked when Shed 7 played and 2 hours to get out of car park.
