Rhys Williams looks a decent shout, especially considering that Liverpool only want a ‘nominal’ fee for him. Potential for development there. Also, with Dickos’ rumour about us being in for Shepard, from Barnsley, it makes for a very interesting centre back group:

Sonny Aljofree, 20 years old, was on loan at Accrington last season. Made 25 appearances, I think we will get him on loan.

Every one mentioned is right footed, we need desperately a left footer or someone comfortable on that side for balance and with pace as all last season down that side the lack of it caused us problems and teams primarily to attack us in that area successfully.
When Anderson came in his positional play in and around the penalty area and no nonsense clearing of the ball quicker helped to reduce the problem, but this season we are a level and a big jump in class of strikers higher.

Someone like Williams is going to be on several grand a week minimum. He’s not some 17 year old. Unless he is willing to take a massive drop in his wages he isn’t coming here. Not sure what people think our resources are but we are not going to be paying someone several grand a week.

Was listening to the Barnsley fella Callum Fowler on YouTube (good knowledge of league one and he’s actually hilarious) and he reckons Shepherd is going to be a nailed on starter for them with no chance of leaving.

Had a nose job done last year in Leeds. They threw in a set of handkerchiefs. Not to be sniffed at.

Another possibility Jack Kingdon , 19 years old, central defender is being allowed to leave Man Utd, anybody wanting him will have to pay a youth development fee.

Will they? if he's being allowed to leave then that suggests they haven't offered terms. There's only a fee if the player rejects equal or greater terms isn't there?

Maybe you are right Janso, but my understanding was that even if released a fee has to be paid for the development costs while he has been at the club, even if released. This is decided by a tribunal or can be agreed between clubs.

I'm fairly sure that only applies if they're offered equal or better terms and reject the deal.
