Good question BB.

I'd go for something very different I think. Trouble is what? Eskimo? Italian? Russian? Colombian? I could go for any of those.... Something Scandinavian maybe...

Christ... This is one tough question. Polynesian?

I don't know!

I shall think on it further.

Beautiful geography, beautiful cities, beautiful people.  Great art, great architecture, great design, great music, great cuisine. A half decent football league and they regularly win the World Cup. Italy has a lot going for it.

Then again there are the earthquakes and these days the summers are getting much too scorchio.

Good call. I worked in London alongside a large number of Italians. Having been brought up to see Italians as the bad guys thanks to their footballing shithousery in the 70’s and 80’s it was a bit of a revelation. Couldn’t help but admire their work hard/play hard attitude and their sense of duty. Their love of family and community was so strong too. I was also blown away by the fact they’d fly home en masse to vote at elections which puts our pathetically low turnouts to shame. Once I realised that all the shoulder shrugging and arm waving was a harmless habit they couldn't help they were a pleasure to be around.

And, 20 years later I’m still having daydreams about Alessia…

I'd like the quiet life and to be close to the sea, spot of swimming and occasional fishing and afternoon beer in the shade. Maltese if I'm sticking to Europe, life always seems to slow down in Malta. Or if I'm allowed to be a bit more international a nice Caribbean Island will do me - happy to be St Lucian. Also with much smaller populations my chances of being an international footballer would increase somewhat!

It is a gret question and of the 28 or so countries I have visited over the years, I may just opt for Norwegian. Beautiful scenery, friendly people, a very good standard of living and voted one of the best countries in the world to live in.

Croatia and Italy are other countries that I love for differing reasons, but I would also love to go to countries in the far east, it looks a different world to me.

Italian for me. My great grandad was Italian,  probably where I get my proper stunning good looks from .
I've also got that Italian 0-100mph temper.

Australian. I should have emigrated there when I was a young man.

I'd have to avoid the city of Sydney though. There's someone there I might bump into.....

It was just an adventure to start with, and it still is to some extent. Even though it is far more expensive to travel from Oz to anywhere than to here, luck and a few good choices have given us the means to continue roaming around. I, like so many others love Italy but am unsure whether living there would spoil the freshness of returning. We are planning our next trip atm, we have the tickets, in to Sweden and out from Portugal, the middle bit tbd.

As a footnote with respect to the topic I am eligible to reside in 5 countries down from 30.

I wonder what happened with the other twenty five?

One would imagine residence and/or marriage and/or parental qualifications have lapsed. Politics doesn't impact the application of residence rules once they're implemented.
