Great wing half, known as "Dan" Ricketts to Rovers fans.

He scored against us for Stockport at Edgeley Park, but we bounced back with goals from Colin Booth, David Raine, and Phil Robinson.

He signed for us not long after that.

RIP Dan.

RIP Graham, happy memories and he could hit a ball as well. The middle of the defence with him John Wylie and John Nicholson were a good unit in that championship winning side.

One of my earliest favourite players. Very solid and dependable.
R. I. P. Dan and thanks for the memories.

Always sad to hear of the passing of one of our ex players.
He was a good wing half, and another player around the years when most consider he could have played at an higher level.

IN, yes a good player in a good side we had put together very cultured with the ball and more than willing to mix it with anyone who thought they could walk all over you.
From the west country with a twang in his speech that attracted the supporters of the time to him sounding novel to us broader Yorkshire people as not many moved up here at the time.
Thanks for the enjoyment you gave us Graham R.I.P.

You probably know but his accent is how he got nicknamed Dan. The other players said he sounded like Dan Archer from the radio programme.

Yes your right we were quick in those days to pigeon hole things like that in our personalities, it was just another thing about the man apart from him being a very good player that endeared him to us the supporters, and is reflected in the thoughts of those supporters still to this day who remember him with fondness.
Very different days when the lads playing for your local side were your heroes, and the big stars were just who you read about and were able to watch about four times a year if you had a TV.
