I wonder what is the highest number of Internationals we have fielded in a single match .I would guess we would have to go back to the Irish contingent in the 1950s。Peter Doherty , Harry Gregg , Kit Lawlor , Eddie McMorran , Len Graham and Paddy Gavin .They never all played together but I am sure three did .. Gregg , Graham and Mcmorran I remember that much from 1954 .I never saw Doherty play unfortunately .
-
How many internationals appeared together during the “experiment”.?
-
This might be something that a certain Welshman living in N.Ireland could look into.

Just seen this and had a look at 2011-2, the ‘experiment’ season.
I can find two matches where an incredible 9 internationally capped players came on the pitch for Rovers, once 8 starters and 1 sub, and once 7 starters and 2 subs:
League Match no 33: Nottingham Forest Away: Won 2-1
7 Starters:
Giles Barnes (Jamaica)
Shelton Martis (Dutch Antilles)
Frederique Piquionne (France/Martinique)
Pascal Chimbonda (France/Guadeloupe)
El Hadji Diouf (Senegal)
Carl Ikeme (Nigeria)
Habib Beye (Senegal)
2 subs:
John Oster (Wales)
Mamadou Bagayoko (Mali)
League Match Number 41: Leicester City Away: Lost 0-4)
8 Starters:
John Oster (Wales)
Giles Barnes (Jamaica)
Frederique Piquionne (France/Martinique)
Herita Ilunga (Democratic Rep of Congo)
Pascal Chimbonda (France/Guadeloupe)
El Hadji Diouf (Senegal)
Carl Ikeme (Nigeria)
Habib Beye (Senegal)
1 sub:
Brian Stock (Wales)
In total an incredible 14 internationally capped players appeared for us in the league that season. The other three were Neil Sullivan (Scotland), Chris Kirkland (England) and Ryan Mason (England). In Mason’s case his cap came after that season, so he was not capped at the time.
In addition we were reported as having Lamine Diatta (Senegal) on our books as well, but we never knew if that was true or not - he never played for us.

10 caps Filo, although like Mason, all won after that season:

Dutch , you have a fabulous data base management tool .That statistic on Internationals is amazing isn’t it
-
Maybe I should explain that I don't actually use any database software - everything is on independent spreadsheets. But I do have a good library of source books.
Every now and then I research something I find interesting and think might be useful, so I have a spreadsheet of all the players I could find who have been on Rovers books and won a full international cap at some stage of their careers (before, during or after their stay at Rovers). It is probably not complete, but I have found 109 such players, 4 of which (including Lamine Diatta) who never played a competitive match for us.
I then photocopied the Rothmans/Sky annual page with the matrix of all team lineups for the 46 league matches in 2011-12, used a highlighter on all international players, and then simply looked for the highest number in a match. Very low tech and not a database in sight

I was once told by a Rovers player from the 50’s that during that period the Irish lads would go back to Ireland for the summer before reporting back for pre season training but that two of them didn’t report back and someone was sent to Ireland to track them down and bring them back. Happened two years running I think he said but he wouldn’t say who they were.
-
Jesus. Sounds like some latter day Black and Tans were combing the back lanes of County Monaghan to apprehend these two lads and get them on the ferry to Anglesey.
-
well done Dutch.
as for the two renegades ..how about Eddie Mac and Paddy Gavin ?
