Very harsh penalty I reckon!

Definitely not harsh, it was directly in front of us in the south stand and his hand seemed to flick the ball, so definitely hand movement.
Although agree from viewing incident from the camera angle it does look harsh.

Agreed. Clearly diverted the path of the ball from behind the goal.

How can a team be given a ~80% chance of scoring a goal for an incident like that? The punishment just doesn’t fit the crime does it.

I'd be fuming if that had been given against us.

Ball to hand not hand to ball, totally accidental, he barely touched it and Exeter gained no benefit - if anything it slowed the ball down slightly allowing the Rovers player a better chance of getting to it before it went out of player.

Extraordinarily harsh.

You’d feel rotten if that was given against us. It’s a total accident and I’m not sure his hand was in a stupid position.

That said we were the only team trying to win the game and on the front foot so you earn these soft goals/decisions

Does the ref decide the severity of the offence on the probability of a goal being scored.?  Only for. DOGSO decision which this was not.

A handball nowhere near the goal but in the penalty area is still a handball, soft or not.

Isn’t there a saying about “the hand being in an unnatural position” which might have applied to the refs thinking.
The defenders hand was very high.

I reckon plenty of us would be grumbling if we conceded a penalty for that.

Our keeper’s save when he was through late on was crucial too.

Great three points.

Last season we were awarded just 2 penalties.

I'll take the break in our fortunes.

It looked pretty clear from the south stand. Most around me appealed.

If it’s hit his hand, that’s way above his head how is it harsh?

Differant views regarding the pen saying harsh and was ball to hand, maybe so but you run the ridk when jumping and your arms are above your head no matter how close it is or whether it comes off sumones head beforehand or not

If it’s hit his hand, that’s way about his head how is it harsh?
true but a lot also appealed for the other 2 which were never  pens

I was sat right in front of the incident and it was a  definite handball, admittedly it doesn’t look anywhere near as bad as it did from my seat, but don’t feel too bad for them - there was a clear shove on Clifton missed  just prior and that was a clear penalty.

The problem for the defender was why were his hands in that position, you are either trying to stop the cross or stop the resulting header - it is definitely not a natural position, made worse by the flicking motion.

You jump up with your hand in the air and you are just asking for trouble.

Had a great view of it in the South stand, hand raised in an unnatural position & the ball struck it, absolute nailed on penalty.

No yellow cards in our game (as noted by Hoden and Miller) and no draws in this round with a game to go.

There should have been at least two yellow cards in our game.
