Title: Sterry injury
Post by: donnyguy on August 02, 2025, 06:52:52 pm

"I think he's fractured his cheekbone, which is not great news. Speaking to Dave (Rennie, head of medical) I think he'll probably go in for surgery over the next day or two. The good thing is it'll not keep him out for long...."

Sterry is unlucky, had that delayed start also in his first season with us, this should not keep him out as long as then and we need him back as he really kicked on last season finishing the season well and gelling with Mols. Bailey was a good stand in but was missed in the middle of the field with Gotts still getting to grips with the side.

Sterry’s first on the team sheet for me
A) He’s a classy, clever player
B) He supports Molyneux in a way that makes Molyneux really tick.
Hopefully not long out.

Nixon is a very good back up imo and it’s a shame we can’t name more subs. This is why we have a large squad we can deal with a few injuries as long as they aren’t too long

Not anywhere near Sterry going forward. Sterry has overtook Maxwell too for me.

I watched the game back on SS+ tonight and he looked like he was trying hard not to puke as he walked back to the changing rooms. He looked proper groggy.

Get well soon, Jamie.

Of all injuries that could occur, although painful won’t keep Jamie out for long, bone injuries always better than muscle or ligament injuries.

A few years ago, I had the same footballing injury, after the operation to correct it, I asked the doctor how long will I be “on the sick”, he said don’t worry, it won’t be long because Peter Beardsley had the same injury and he played in the next game and wearing a protective mask.
I said the Beardsley needed the mask because he was ugly, I told him that I was on full pay and I could do with a couple of weeks rest.

McCann says in his interview, he's out for at least three weeks. Fractured cheek, eye socket and misaligned jaw.

Just goes to show there are still some hard guys in football. Sterry was down for 30 seconds and walked himself off.

I’m glad you didn’t make a typo in “walked” there..

Oof. Lots of chicken soup in his diet for the next month or so then.

It seemed that he was down for much more than thirty seconds.

Huge huge miss I'd say he's one of our best players now.

McCann says Sterry operation was a success and just sorting face mask to deal with. Hopefully back training Monday
