Title: Play Against The Players Today
Post by: CJK on August 04, 2025, 06:03:30 pm
I just wanted to share another fantastic, positive experience we had with the kids at the Play Against The Players event today. There were half a dozen or so different areas which the kids rotated around every ten or fifteen minutes, with the Rovers players divided up into each area. Every single first team player was there aside from Sterry who has a valid excuse. Also there were Grant, Cliff, Copps, the other coaches and Gavin.

After a good 90 minutes on the pitches, the kids then went inside to meet the players and get autographs. And the L2 Trophy was obviously on display and available for photos.

There looks to be a really good atmosphere amongst the group, particularly the group which included Bailey, Sbarra, Ironside, Broadbent and Clifton.

I think days like this are really important for clubs in tier 3 and 4. They have to go the extra mile to engage the youngsters and ensure they pick Rovers and not a Premier League team or such like. I'm currently trying to ensure my daughter (9) and son (7) take the mantle and days like today help a great deal with that. How many of their mates who follow Man Utd, Liverpool or even Al Hilal or whatever they are called will get the chance of the experience my two have had today?

Another really good initiative from Rovers. I'll be sending an email in. I know from experience that feedback is generally negative, people generally only feedback if there is an issue in any industry. So it's important you recognise something that is good.

I completely agree with all that. It was all handled very well indeed. Thanks and congratulations to everyone involved for putting it on.

The players were really great with the kids. Some very funny moments and lots of smiles. The squad looked such a happy bunch of mates too, having fun together playing football, which is great to see from the fan viewpoint.

Young Reds membership, which is free for all kids. Club emailed me (the kids via me) so I signed them up for this event. Also free.

It's great stuff like this. 100% taking mine when he's old enough. Not sure other clubs do stuff like this. Rovers doing well on and off the pitch. Although technically this was on the pitch
