Surprised Crew goes straight in and Nixon not trusted to replace Sterry. Not even on the bench. In Grant We Trust.

Can't help thinking Mansfield will start like a house on fire. All that new energy and excitement of playing in front of their home fans.

First job is to shut them up.

COYR.

Nixon must feel rotten. Never let us down but we’d rather play a loanee. Same with Gotts who was great last week when he came on and has been with us all preseason.

I know Crew is talented I just hope we’ve not got a must play clause I hate that with loans.

Grant is normally right though so I shouldn’t complain. Nixon might as well be loaned out if he can’t get on the bench today.

it’s the only way Bailey gets a game imo. Crew and Broadbent were excellent in the run in last year when our midfield finally clicked. Flabbergasted once again how Clifton manages a start, however

Bailey over Person from what I’ve seen. He’s class at centre half

Is Nixon fit? Doesn't bode well for him if he's been left out for any other reason.

Hectic start, not much quality. You feal if Rovers show some composure the game is there for the taking.

I really hope Grant is in the loan market for another striker. Hanlan just doesn't look up to it at all he's got a touch like Teflon which when you're playing with a lone striker you need to make it stick

Exeter are already 2 up against Blackpool. Maybe they're not quite as bad as we made them look last week!

totally agree, but it appears not to be in grants thinking judging by the centre halves he’s signed.

Too mainly aimless long balls from us. We're so much better when we play it forward.

Just about to say the same. Mainly inaccurate, wasted. Pressing is good. I've a sense of togetherness in the side but not that fluid.

That was some firey header from Mansfield, lucky it was straight at TLT.

Flipping heck, What does Hanlon have to do to get a free kick? Doubled up on, one in his back and one on his shoulders…

We just need to calm it down with the final pass.
Title: Re: MTFC V TLOD
Post by: Copps is Magic on August 09, 2025, 03:50:11 pm
We are clearly the better side. They look completly disorganised but can put the odd attack together that makes them dangerous.

I was going to make a comment about Hanlan, but he made a lovely lay-off at one point late in the half, so he can produce (otherwise the ball is bouncing off him and he's being bullied by the defenders)

Game is there for us.

So far so good. Just need that final bit of quality in the area.

Start the same in the second half, then open them up with the movement.

In the league it was the penultimate match 2 seasons ago - our 10th win on the trot at Colchester, we won 4-1 after conceding an early goal  :scarf:

MK Dons winning?

But that’s balanced out by Robbie Savage and FGR cocking up whilst playing for 84 minutes against 10 men.

The Guinness and the takeaway will taste good tonight.
