Owen Bailey. What is his best position on the pitch? You ask the wrong question oh naive one. The answer is on the pitch. Where? on the pitch. On the pitch he shall be.
-
For two games now our attackers have not been able to get on the fast amount of good balls into the box, he showed then exactly how to do it.
Surely he has to start in a position where we get him more advanced up the pitch.
We have plenty of defenders, so get him forward.
The guy is a legendary, I understand the pain he went through with his injury, but no way should he have been playing at Gateshead.
-
Contracted until 2028.
-
Someone said on twitter that was his 94th league start in a row!
-
Yes remarkable given how many knocks he takes.
-
I said on Twitter before the game that starting him at RB was a crime today. Let’s not do that again.
-
Can I say Captain Marvel?
-
The guy is constantly good but it is hard to see where to play him, the attacking midfielder might be it, it is not as the holder, and as good as he is/was in defence he should not start in front of any defender. I do not see him infront of either Broady or Crewe.
Clifton struggled today, but was good against Exeter, so for me he loses his place, Bailey gets moved into that advanced role, but I think it naturally suits Gotts.
A nice problem, but has my head hurting where to put him.
-
Gotts has been great in his cameos so far.

He was very good today I thought.

Worth remembering he suffered a torn meniscus that kept him out for 2 years when he was at Newcastle. To recover from that and go on to play 94 games in a row, as the style of player he is, is an incredible achievement. Some players never recover mentally or physically from knee injuries that severe.
He's a special player and a credit to the club.

We are so lucky to have Bails! He is the consummate professional. Just listened to his post match interview & he is so mature for such a young lad. I hope he has a lengthy career with the Rovers & becomes a legend like Copps!

Already a legend, club captain, 94 appearances on the bounce, title winner, Mr Dependable
-
F*ck it let’s go prime Spain and play 6 in midfield
-
May as well cause hanlan doesn't offer to much does he!
-
He’s 28 and has never been a prolific scorer at any level. That’s not going to change. McCann brought him in to do something different.

Not for first time I hear a few say

He’s a real captain and does what needs to be done and best position is just that !!
-
Right back, centre midfield, number 10.
All in the same game.
And two goals.
What a player.
And anyone who says he should never have started at right back clearly knows nothing about football.
His performance there was outstanding.

Only time I can remember him being subbed was Newport away the season before last. Pretty sure him and TSL played every minute last season
-
Bailey was subbed in the 82nd minute of our 3-0 home league win against Newport County on 1 March 2025 and oddly also in the 83rd minute of our 3-1 defeat away at Newport County on 17 August 2024.

Cheers.
