By my reckoning we are in the middle of a golden period to be a Rovers supporter, one that people and club historians will talk about for years to come.
Not only the success that we’ve had but the quality of football we’ve dished out over the past couple of years, and are continuing to serve is brilliant.
Add to that, everything ‘behind the scenes’ is moving in the right direction too.
I’ve put up with some god awful crap over the past 45+ years of following Rovers but this past 2 years have been amongst the most enjoyable.
Long may it continue!

Very true.
I missed out on a lot of the O'Driscoll years through work and raising a young family (not much time or money).
So now im in a position where there's more time and bit more money for "me time" it's all falling into place and obviously loving every minute of it.
Also loving that im seeing the same regular faces I did years ago and there's always someone there i talk to.

I agree with most of that post Herbert.
The only thing I’m not agreeing with is that I think we are at the beginning of a golden period, not in the middle of one.

It may be more than that ! We are in a global crisis of values due to Trump, Gaza , Ukraine and more .Most have have deep feelings about such human crises and personal family losses ,but need to escape into the comfort of our own communities somehow

I think that to qualify for that epithet, we would need to achieve what seems to be Terry’s ambition, that of building a sustainable Championship squad and club.

Long may the Good times roll! As a Rovers Supporter of 52 years I’m used to the hard knocks, let’s hope we have a good run and a truly Golden epoch!

Whilst I do feel that this now feels like a club very much on the up, I just think we need to stay grounded. We have beaten 2 of who are being deemed relegation candidates. This time next week we could well be off the back of 2 defeats heading into Huddersfield away where I’m sure the mood will change amongst fans. I feel we are still short of a striker but think if we get that then we are in for a very respectable season.

That's where I am now Nudga with two young kids. I don't live in England so don't know when I'll get to a game again but thankful for the streaming age!

Think we have to be realistic if this continues. McCann will be linked to almost every side in this league and some of the above.

Think he knows how good he has got it with Terry and Gavin, when he came back he did an interview were he asked his wife if he should and she told him that he'd never been as happy than when he was with us so for him it was a no brainer.
Think it would take a really big offer for him to leave i.e top championship club as a minimum

Yes, we'd like to think he can be alot more choosey about his next move. In any job like this, I guess he needs to be sufficiently challenged while progressing each season. Obviously that's where the job satisfaction comes from. As long as he keeps doing that, he knows the jobs his long term. He knows there are certain financial limitations but so far, he's probably got everything he could reasonably have asked for in the playing budget but also the support staff and infrastructure. It's also those staff and the facilities that need time before their full potential is realised, and maybe added to again. I guess he'll want to see that through. If, and it's a big iif, he could get us into the Championship, going one better than before, I could imagine him hailing it as his biggest success to date, given what he started with.
He also knows how short term football can be. We recall JR saying he would never sack SO'D and we couldn't see that happening either but he likely thinks we'll be more patient than many other clubs.
I think he at some point would like to have a crack at international management, so if the NI job came up, maybe we should fear this more than other clubs coming sniffing.

It has a momentum feel about this season already , we’ve played two teams and ground out results showing real character and team work . Our patterns of play have carried over and the squad looks comfortable. Our need for a goal scorer hasn’t been solved totally as the way results have been achieved so far , but there are signs that with everyone pulling in the same direction this will sort it’s self out fairly soon as players get to know each others strengths and qualities.

I would not write off Hanlon just yet. Rob Street took a game or 2 to get into his stride and neither he nor John Marquis were especially prolific before they came to DRFC. Hanlon has the look of a big strong forward who has the capacity to terrify defenders with his speed, power and strength on the ball.

It was always gonna be the start of a golden era imo as soon as GM came back and TB took over the reigns properly.

Yes Hound I agree. Pre-McCann was not “golden”. Also, being pedantic, if we’re at a midpoint, its conclusion would be only a relatively short time ahead. Let’s hope that it will extend for at least another 5 or more years.
